I must have been one of the first to try the upgrade (iPhone 6S Plus). It took a couple hours to download, then bricked my phone until I could get to iTunes. Now after another 30 minutes iTunes says the corrected iOS 10.0.1 wouldn’t download correctly and I may have to do a full restore.

The “bricking” was evidently most common when using over the air updates...

> ...OS X will be moving to MacOS 12 Sierra...

Ah, at last we are back to "MacOS". How I have missed thee!!

"OS X" was good, it lasted 15 years, but once you've hit "OS X 11" things have gone too far. Especially if you're one of the half-dozen or so people on Earth that (correctly, mind you) pronounce "X" as "ten" rather than "X" (eks). That always reminds me of this:

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (Gene Wilder) is a lecturing physician at an American medical school and engaged to the tightly wound socialite Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn). He becomes exasperated when anyone brings up the subject of his grandfather, the infamous mad scientist. To dissociate himself from his forebear, Frederick insists that his surname is pronounced "Fronkensteen."

Third attempt at downloading via iTunes just failed.

from MacRumors:

For those who are still having trouble resolving this issue: If you are unable to update or restore thru iTunes it's because the software servers are overloaded. You probably guessed that already. I just talked to Apple support and they confirmed that we'll have to wait until things slow down a bit before the iTunes update will work. So the good news is yes, it's fixed. The bad news is we can't actually access the fix for a little while.

Guess I'm phoneless for a while. Thanks Obam...errr....Tim.

On my iPhone6 it’s 1.1Gigs. What really stinks is that I hadn’t done an update in over a year (it’s a real hassle for me), but just last week I finally broke down and did an update to the 9.3.5, and NOW they come out with this. Ugh.

One thing I do not like that changed when I did the update was that one can no longer clear the search history right in Safari. It seems that to clear the search history one needs to go into settings and it also clears all web data, which has the effect of signing out of websites. Maybe this new version will change that back, but it may be months before I decide to do an update again.

It's necessary. The reason for that is to clear those phishing and ransom ware websites that won't let go of your browser. If clearing history doesn't close the website and web data, then they reopen and you are back to having your browser hijacked all over again.

When is a water pistol still a gun? When you send it to an Android user, apparently. If you send it to an iOS 10 (.0.1) user, it's still a water pistol.

Finally on the fifth try, my phone updated. Now I need to catch up on four hours of messages...geez.

Really impressed with the iMessage. They really out-did themselves there. Made that app lots of fun.

Or to a Windows user. Windows 10 just changed their Ray Gun to a revolver. LOL!

Apple software update causes major problems for iPhone and iPad users

The second lesson taught in Naval Aviation: Don't fly an "A" model. (Or at least not until you have a heart-to-heart talk with a test pilot/flight instructor who's dealt with the beast)

The First Lesson? Avoid collisions. Collisions with the ground, collisions with the water, collisions with those nasty sky-full-of-rocks-and-trees aka mountains....

Anyway, I figure I'll give it a few days for all the bugs to crawl out of the woodpile. Best of luck to all you folks just gotta be in a hurry.
