49ers fans trying to dump tickets to Rams game at a fraction of face value

The 49er Faithful are already being tested. With a shortage of talent and a brutal schedule on tap, the 2016 team is projected to be the worst in a long, long time. It seems some fans are already jumping ship.

As of Monday morning, tickets to the opening night game against the Los Angeles Rams were offered for under $50 on the ticket resale site StubHub, $40 (plus fees) on the team's official resale partner, TicketMaster. Compare that to the cheapest individual seat for season ticket holders, $85, and you have a massive discount for the first game of the season.

The pain is even worse for VIP ticket holders who paid $20,000 or more for the right to buy their season tickets. Seats that cost $350 each after the licence were being offered for nearly $200 off the ticket price on resale websites.

The low demand continues a steady decline in demand for tickets to 49er home games. By November of last season it was easier to spot seats than spectators at some games. The frustration was evident last time SFGate wrote about the ticket discounts.

"A team that operates the way the Niners have been don't deserve people to show up," wrote one Facebook commenter.

The way these rich arrogant athletes are disrespecting the nations flag the name of the league should be changed to the Third World Football League.

Much of the Niners traditional fan base on the Peninsula are in Colma now, sadly.

...yeah, I’m sure it’s lack of talent and a crummy schedule that’s driving the ticket sell off....

“Sounds like one ungrateful Muslim millionaire just cost his team a whole lotta cash....”

Yes, that was the most recent downside for sure. I bet the owners are not too happy.

If these are all secondary market tickets, the tickets have already been purchased from the 49’ers.

The 49’ers already made their money.

Yahoo Sports needs to get with it. They are referring to the Rams from St. Louis.

I am visiting San Francisco this month. I wouldn’t go to a 49er game if they gave me a cheer leader as a personal escort.

(Let me rethink that if they threw in some drinks too).

I can't begin to tell you how much I detest the 49ers now. Why? They were my team for 30 years (I'm a NorCal expat now living in Arizona). But they've now become the poster team for America-hating "progressivism."

And on-field fecklessness after the firing of Harbaugh.

I now have three teams I spit upon: the 49ers, Penn State, and the University of Missouri.

Can anyone detect a common thread here...?

Welcome to The House The Yorks and Kaep Destroyed.

I expect exactly the same to happen here in South Florida with the Dolphins.

Four Dolphins players refused to stand for the national anthem on Sunday, the 15th anniversary of 9/11: Arian Foster, Jelani Jenkins, Michael Thomas, and Kenny "drop a perfect 71-yard bomb from Ryan Tannehill that falls right into my hands" Stills.

Owner Stephen Ross rationalized the shameful behavior, and the team issued an uber-PC and lame statement to its fans. The team web site has exploded with outrage.

In other words, the Dolphins were the worst offender for NFL Week 1 in terms of disrespect for the anthem. They snatched the trophy away from both Colin Kaepernick and Brandon Marshall.

Expect this DIS-unified Dolphins team to be in total chaos for the entire season, and to miss the playoffs, and justifiably so...

Football is a sport that embodies images of American patriotism and exceptionalism. The lefties would love nothing better than to strip this sport and source of American pride from the American people and replace it with Futbol aka Soccer which is big in 3rd world countries, particularly in countres where terrorism is sponsored. I’d like to see if all the fist raisers or knee takers are Muslim or not. I’m betting most are. This will probably turn out to be another Soros’ scheme to drag Anerica closer to 3rd world status.

All major sports leagues apparently have gone to hell now in disrespecting our stars and stripes.
Had a lot of regard for Golden State Warrior point guard Stephen Curry until he applauded Kapernick.
Living in Maryland, I used to be an Orioles’ fan many years ago (another story). Now, Baltimore’s center fielder Adam Jones says Kapernick chose the right time to speak up and feels that baseball is “a white man’s sport!”
I wish all these ignorant ungrateful POS would get the hell out of our country!!!

You are correct. The Dolphins, after what happened the last few days, may surpass the Niners in America-hating Bull Shiite.

If you were once a fan, as I WAS of the Niners, you have my sympathy.

All they had to do was stand strong and cut him. He’s on his way out and tried to force their hand with this stunt. They could’ve gained a lot of respect in not allowing some spoiled jerk dictate to them.

Correct. It would be a naive error to think the owners give a shit one way or the other how fans deal their tickets after they have been bought,.
