SAN ANTONIO - Outrage is building after a San Antonio mattress company aired a “Twin Tower sale” video, days before the 15th anniversary of the deadly attack that killed nearly 3,000 people.

The 20 second Miracle Mattress video opens with three people standing in front of two stacks of mattresses.

The advertisement says mattresses will be on sale for the price of a twin mattress. Two men are then “thrown back” into the two stacks of mattresses, causing them to fall over.

I think the CEO’s letter, at the link, takes care of the issue.

It does. Here's the letter:

http://media.ksat.com/document_dev/2016/09/08/miracle%20mattress_1473371783679_7956254_ver1.0.pdf

I'm particularly impressed by this statement:

All I can say is I am deeply sorry and on behalf of the entire Miracle Mattress family, I accept responsibility for this thoughtless and crude advertisement and will immediately hold my employees accountable for this serious lapse of decency.

(emphasis is mine)

Read the entire letter. The owner was unaware of the video prior to posting, and there was no approval by the corporate office. But, he is not shirking his responsibility by blaming others.

He goes on to explain what he plans to do to prevent such a lapse from happening again.

It's a refreshing change, compared to a certain Presidential candidate.

There are liberals in every state of our country. We need to come together as a nation and stop alienating each other because of location.

The majority of the time I watched it I was thinking honest mistake... then she pushes them into the tower of mattresses and says it with THAT tone. I wanted their business to burn instantly.

The people who made this ad had to be taught to think like idiots, otherwise they might have known better.

The company has issued an apology, however, a simple apology is far from sufficient. This was not a case where someone from the company inadvertently blurted out something inappropriate, or used a poor choice of words. This was a situation where a lot of planning went into the commercial before it aired. Someone came up with the idea. A script was written. Management approved the commercial. The three people seen in the commercial probably rehearsed a number of times before the commercial was filmed. There may have been other people from the company involved. All of these people thought this was a good idea, and thought this was funny. I find it incredible that nobody said “Maybe this isn’t a good idea. Maybe we shouldn’t do this.” A letter of apology from the CEO doesn’t even begin to make this right.

To be honest, I thought it was a nasty hoax. It turns out this person, Cherise, I think her name is, is the manager of the store. I just sent it to Jamie Glasov at Frontpage to post on his twitter and facebook feed. He’s a fabulous guy. The commenters at the Dallas Morning News didn’t see it as a problem...

I won’t either. Every September, I remember what a warm day it was on that Tuesday here in the Denver area. Much like it is here today. And it looked to be that same kind of beautiful pre-Fall day in NY. It was such a contrast in images and feelings. I felt such a sadness and loss of security that day. It was a trauma for the whole nation.

The amazing thing is the person who thought up the ad and all the employees who acted in the video and filmed the video and not one of them was self-aware enough to stop and think something is not right with this ad.

Public school education. Perhaps, like Rosie O’Donnell, they thought 9/11 was a hologram.

Not a good idea at all. They obviously were given too much leeway and too little supervision.

My son heads up production for a large clothing company. They farmed out some work to someone and when the results came back, he had to take it all the way to the CEO to convince them NOT to use the work. They had the models standing on and dragging the American flag.

The CEO agreed and the work was trashed and the company fired.

Thank goodness it did not make it out to the public.

I don't want to get in the way of your rant, but perhaps you should read the letter from the owner before assuming facts not in evidence?

The people in the video might be, either that or hispanic, hard to tell.

Owner has an Italian surname.

Mrs. AV

“Don’t buy a mattress if you don’t want, but outrage means nothing to me.”

I’m with you. I’m also tired of every other thread mentioning ‘Hitler’ or ‘NAZIS’. Good Grief! We’re supposed to be more intelligent and thoughtful than this.

Ad Executives do not have a clue as to the sensitivities of the public, history, or even pop culture. They come up with an idea that’s “clever” and run with it, not even thinking of the consequences to their client.

Recently on TV I saw an ad for GMC trucks with the music of the WHO, “Eminence Front” playing in the background.

“Eminence Front” is a song about phony, false, blingy “Fronts” that people put up to cover the fact that they are really nothing special. Perhaps GMC Trucks are not all they are cracked up to be?

Can’t be as bad as Starbucks ad that said collapse into coolness.

Starbucks is steadily also drifting into my "used to was" category.
