I have an old enfield with a 7.62x54R “jungle” conversion an old snake eater did for the Burma / Thai conflict...... near Chang Mai (Rai)...... lots of old enfield rifles for the rebels but their supply of .303 ammo was crap. They converted thousands of those enfield to use captured 7.62x54R..... !

Best conversion I’ve made for economical use of the smoothest action on earth shy of the old 30-40 krag Jorgensen which may be slicker than sheep crap on black ice.
I think .260 Rem in a .308-size AR platform would be about perfect out to 1,000 yards. If I lived in TX and had a few grand to lay out for a Larue....
