How heavily armed is your State?
CBS NEWS ^ | Dec. 4, 2015

Posted on 09/04/2016 8:24:59 PM PDT by foto

Don't know if this was already posted, just saw it myself. CBS is listing the most heavily armed states by basing it it on federal licenses given out to allow ownership of weapons like sawed off shotguns and short (under 16 inch) barreled rifles etc banned by GCA of 1934. They are claiming that such licensed people are the only owners of firearms in each state.Think this is some ploy by them to later claim/demand that all firearm purchase/records should be opened for public viewing as their story is based upon the only facts that are available about actual ownership. They will probably argue that number of NICS checks, while published, doesn't equal firearm ownership or that since firearm ownership is so low banning them won't really effect anyone. Can anyone think of a good reason for CBS to publish such a article or to allege such low numbers of firearm ownership which they know is untrue on its face as to actual number of legal gun owners?

Percentage of households in the United States owning one or more firearms from 1972 to 2015:

The statistic shows the percentage of households in the United States which own firearms from 1972 to 2015. In 2015, about 41 percent of U.S. households had at least one gun in possession.

There’s more firearms in this nation than there are people.

You do the math.

The second amendment is there for a reason. It exists to protect all of the others amendments, whether you believe that or not.

It is the Americans’ equivalent of a safety valve, or the proverbial reset button.

Actually, to answer the title of this thread “How Heavily Armed Is Your State”, cannot be answered by the article as it only deals with certain weapons required to be registered.

Common “Walmart” variety guns need not be registered unless required by local or state laws.

I read somewhere that Wyoming is the most heavily armed.

It will be interesting to see how the “reset button” works if Trump wins in a massive record breaking landslide in the popular vote, and Hitlery somehow or another is selected as the new Prez, upheld by the Supreme Court and not at all challenged by the RINO’s.

Especially when she decides it’s time to retire the 2nd Amendment.

Liberals love tobleat how few arms Hawaii has, but they do not know the depth of the owners here. A lot of haoles that adpted the state, and a strong local born group that has a clue about things.

This logo is commonly seen and give mainland tourists the hives:

I’m guessing they are trying to somehow imply that higher gun ownership rates equal higher death rates from guns but they’re only looking at NFA items, which would include supressors. I’ve never heard of anyone being killed by a supressor.

Since those at the top of the list are pretty much without a lot of large bodies of water, they don’t have as many opportunities for tragic boating accidents.

The usual BS, "registered" guns.

What does that mean, a 4473 was filed?

agree totally.

I have read that there are “estimates” that in Texas there are 2.5 guns or rifles per every citizen of the state. Man, woman and child.

No one really knows. Some homes have none, some have many.

There are probably enough for now. Ammo has been stockpiled over the past 8 years, but probably not enough on hand.

I reload and probably still need more brass and bullets.

I don’t find your numbers credible.

Wyoming may be the highest per capita, but there is no way that Texas has only 12.8 guns per 1,000 population. I’m really pressed to think of a family I know who does not own one or more.

“It is estimated that Texans own around 51 million firearms.”

http://texaslesstraveled.com/gunrights.htm

Wiki estimated TX population Est. 2014 26,956,958

So that would be slightly less than 2 per every man, woman & child in the state.

Very deceptive since this is rating based on 1934 regulated guns. They should state this more clearly and not suggest this shows which state has more. DC #2 ? Seriously?
