TRUMP PLANS MAJOR AD BUY AFTER WEEKS OF BEING OUTSPENT (It's about time)

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s campaign is making its biggest general election ad buy to date, with plans to spend upward of $10 million on commercials airing over the next week or so.

The campaign is expecting to air a new ad, which paints rival Hillary Clinton as a job-killer, as soon as Monday in nine states: Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida, where the campaign has already been on the air, along with New Hampshire, Virginia, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada – all battleground states.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has so far been badly outspent by his Democratic rival and groups supporting her. Since clinching her party’s nomination in early June, Clinton has spent more than $77 million on television and radio advertising, largely targeting voters in battleground states, according to Kantar Media’s political ad tracker.

Trump finally hit the airwaves earlier this month with an ad focused on immigration, and so far has only spent about $5 million.

Clinton has reserved about $9.2 million in airtime this week.

The new investment comes amid signs the campaign sees that Trump’s lagging poll numbers may be improving against Clinton’s following a campaign reboot.

Trump senior communications adviser Jason Miller said in a statement that the billionaire businessman’s “positive message of economic opportunity is working and we see the national and battleground state polls all moving in the right direction.”

Trump gets more response with a tweet than hilLIARy gts with a million dollars of TV time.

He could run his whole campaign by webcam from his office.

In fact, it would be YUGE if he would do a “correct the media lies” webcast every night for 10 minutes

Why not take 10 million and do targeting mailing with specific message for the recipient demo and geography? Perhaps add in a thumb drive or dvd video.

Hillary has been wasting her money. No one has been paying attention. For that matter we have gotten ‘ad-fatigue’. We were paying attention to primary ads, not Hillary ads.

Here in PA today on TV, just saw a very good ad, paid for by Trump’s campaign (that is, not a PAC).

I think his timing is just right. She's spent a fortune and gotten most of nothing. He's held his own all the while spending nothing.

I just heard my first Gary Johnson ad - I’m in Kansas...no chance of Johnson winning here.

Have yet to see or hear a Trump ad. But we don’t swing here. There have been a few HRC ads on tv though.

To be honest, I have wondered about the effectiveness of buying lots of airtime before Labor Day. Most people aren’t paying any attention prior to that and are more interesting in summer vacation and this year, the Olympics.

It does not mean one should not buy any advert time but rather wait until September and October when people are paying attention. I think that Hillary may have spent her reserves early which is meaningless.

I have to agree with the consensus here in that any money spent before the end of summer is really a waste. Most people are out enjoying the weather, on vacation, of doing things other than watching a lot of TV. Political ads when TV is being watched are ignored anyway.

Most people don’t really pay attention until after Labor Day. Trump is smart. He’s going to win hugely.

Independents (and a lot of others) do not decide until a few weeks prior to the election.....

The time to start building a brand is just a week or two prior to the first debate and then a full court press till the election....

This is the difference between a politician who doesn’t care or understand proper allocation of funds and Trump...

Trump has been extremely successful so far without spending a ton of money. He knows what he’s doing far more than us armchair quarterbacks and I trust his judgement more than any of the so called “EXPERTS” here or in the political arena.

When he spends his money it will be for maximum targeted effect to get a larger bang for his buck. In the meantime, Hillary is throwing money to the wind trying to stay within the polls margin of error so she doesn’t have to make her usual weak personal appearances.

Trump 2016, no more rinos.

“Hillary has been wasting her money. No one has been paying attention”

Not necessarily true. Look what Obama (and his scuzzy supporters) did 4 years ago. They spent an entire summer beating Romney over the head with almost everything they had.

In 2010, a guy named Tom Emmer won the GOP endorsement for Governor. he laid back all summer long while the Democrats reamed him a new one. He lost narrowly on Election Night.

Rope-a-dope may work well in boxing but in politics, it can be fatal to your November chances.
