How long does it take to prep and fly a large plane? It is not trivial.
What are the odds they would do all that for a 20 MILE flight. It would cost a fortune too.
So. what seems more likely?
Instead of just driving there they would prepare a flight plan for a 20 mile flight, drive to the airport, load onto the plane, taxi, fly, and land about 3 minutes later...

Her rumored medical condition flared up during flight so they immediately landed?
The condition she is rumored to have is one that is supposed to prohibit flying, unless you want to die. The change in altitude and plood pressure can be fatal.
JFK Jr. would have been a good choice to pilot her flight. I don't think he was available.

You are spot on about the short time needed to get airborne. That's what my son (Ace) does for a living. He keeps his assigned airplane ready to go for when one of his rich owners "makes the call."
The very rich do live a different life.

Ted Kennedy used a car in Martha’s Vineyard and that didn’t work out well.
I think the flight you’re talking about was when Hillary went from Martha’s Vineyard to Nantucket. Both are islands. I think (since money is not object for her Highness) that her staff and the Secret Service decided it was easier to fly than to caravan to a boat, take a boat, and caravan on the other side.
As to flying and medical issues, I don’t think they needed to get very high in the air, or for very long.
She may be a sick puppy, but I don’t think the use of an airplane indicates anything except privilege.

On Sept. 6th she is planning to go to Amsterdam for a fundraiser. 12 hours(r/t) on a plane (even if it is a Gulfstream) has to be not good for the witch.
