Ping for your list: Windows 10 Anniversary update breaking millions of webcams installing the update.
Again, they didn’t ask permission. They just did it. I never turn on auto update keys except on anti-virus.
If I knew how bad Win10 was I would NEVER have bought a new PC... going to replace the failed HD in my old PC with an SSD and go back to Win 7.. light years better in my mind...
I don’t think the word “break” means what the author thinks it does.
Windows 10 is a disaster, I won’t go anywhere near it. My wife tried it, it was horrible, and she rolled back to Win7.
“We’re Microsoft. We don’t care. We don’t have to.”
(Old Lily Tomlin bit about Ma Bell...)
TOO BIG TO FAIL! *SNORT*
Capturing the video images for the NSA is more important that customer usability.
I just got the motivation to install Windows 7 and then do all that is needed to prevent a strong-armed Win10 "upgrade". That's a lot of effort.
I bought a Windows 7 laptop just before they became unavailable and declined 10.
It seems windows new business slogan is bigger and better mistakes through progress. Watch out for October 1st when 0 gives away internet control.
Where is a primer on Linux?
My integrated Surface 3 camera is inoperative. Gee, thanks, Microsoft.
LOL! Having a camera crash can’t be good for the NSA....
Windows 10 Anniversary update on my 2 year old and 8 year old Dell Laptops. Nothing Broken here.
MicroSuck...
I like my Windows 7 operating system, and wish the company would just leave me alone and in peace.
I don’t want their new ObamaSoft 10 operating system, and will wind up a Linux user if they don’t stop trying to own my computers.
Especially awesome is updates are not optional.
Will never own a pc with windows 10. Will not use it. Big brotherware can go fuch itself.

doesnt affect cheap webcams that operate at 720p and below.
If your resolution is at 720p, 800x600, 640x480, 320x240 have no fear it will still work.
but if your resolution offers 1080p then you will have problems. With Skype and other applications it will connect at a lower resolution then adjust higher within a minute to 1080p and then crap out.

66 posts of new-Luddite FUD. Seriously, whenever Microsoft comes up here, FR turns into DU-lite — panic, disorder, U*IX worship.
Since it’s all anecdotal around here:
- I have 3 machines running W10 here, all home-built;
- Two are used a significant portion of the time in gaming where the machine is somewhat taxed
- Wife hated Win8 and asked me to roll back to W7, but hasn’t with W10; and
- None of our machines have received the anniversary update, but I’m looking forward to trying it soon.
My own machine has the characteristics cite in the freezing issue (main drive SSD, data drive HDD) so I haven’t permitted it to update. The other two run HDD as boot drives.
Obviously the webcam thing is pretty ‘series’ if you use one; I don’t. However, it’s not like only MS ears; android/iOS/MacOS/Linux and other OS updates have and do pooch things regularly (like the recent ‘oops, all your android devices are hackable’ ARM bug.). MS just makes news because it’s the majority OS.
