The University of Mississippi’s marching band will no longer play any variation of the song “Dixie” – a tradition some seven decades old at football games and other sporting events.
The University's Athletic Department confirmed to Mississippi Today on Friday that the song, which was the unofficial anthem of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, will no longer be played at athletic events.

Maybe the Ole Miss band can play a BLM theme.

Dixie was written by a northerner. It was Lincoln’s favorite tune.

Wonder if the Long Beach State alumni band will be prevented from playing the Star Spangled Banner at alumni day.

It’s ironic and curious that Dixie was one of Abraham Lincoln’s favorite tunes during the war.
The liberals will, in their unique fashion wipe out completely a large portion of our Civil War. It matters only because it offends them. What doesn’t matter is that there are thousands of persons who feel pride that the Civil War was fought by our ancestors, great grandfathers, and countless other relatives. When does the nonsense end? After they’ve blown to kingdom come Stone Mountain and the leaders portrayed there? Like the Taliban, history is being erased and rewritten, just as it has been for the past decades of American history. Once gone, it can never be fully replaced.

They are all over the country changing “Robert Lee’s” name on schools. Funny how they cry about funding but find money for this.
Some new neighbor down the street put one up.....HOA told them to take it down ASAP. I don’t think it was up a day. The HOA must have been scoping out the place because I have never seen something taken down or fixed or anything so fast. The flag pole has to go to. Not sure if that is HOA regs but they are getting someone to take it down soon. I think they have 14 days. The sad thing is the neighbors didn’t realize they couldn’t have it and of course spent money on putting it up.
