It never occurred to me that superstition and fear of the supernatural might be a weapon against muslim invaders.

Explains a little bit why Vlad Tepes (aka Vlad the Impaler or Count Dracula) placed impaled bodies of his countrymen in the woods to scare off the invading Turks.

BTW, Vlad Tepes (along with his brother Radu) spent much of his youth in muslim Turkey as a hostage to the Sultan Mehmet. He must have learned their fears while there.

Vlad was very misunderstood. He was an early innovator. "Turk on a Stick" was just a marketing idea that didn't work out in the long term.
