Who wants to risk their life going to Brazil?
The Locals can’t afford the tickets or the beer or the Hotdogs no Tacos
Kind of like the political elites of the USA.
The only people who profit from the athletes hard work are the networks and the Olympic committee fat cats that fly around and eat bree and caviar all over the world while paying themselves handsomely as they take bribes on who get the next games.
I have noticed same with concerts. Looks like various entities buy seats in large blocks at a smaller price from these ticket establishements......and try to re-sell at a higher rate. Basically....’scalpers’. Then the venue only appears half full because seats were bought, but people can’t afford the scalp price.
I’ve only seen the Olympics on screens when I’m out in public. My only impression is a lot of green paint on basketball courts.
It not even worth the time to watch on tv. If there’s anything worth knowing about, it’ll be on the internet.
All I’ve seen of it was channel surfing right when Phelps was being such an ahole and the end of women’s floor exercises. Watched Abby who was flawless and whomever it was that followed her. That last girl was a mess but they all oo’ed and awed over her.
Brazilians aren't lining up to see the hockey games in the summer olympics. Weird
Synchronized Tiddlywinks packs them in.
Socialist country so locals would spend a year of earnings for a ticket. Dot.Gov in charge of sanitation, pollution, crime control and do the lowest cost approach so there is more for them. Everyone else gets screwed. Why travel to get screwed?
Olympics jumped the shark in the mid 80s.
I suspect that the competition is just an excuse for all the corruption.
NBC coverage is 90% self-important media staff. Very little show of the actual athletes in competition.
Not enough Canadian Curling competition?
If I, who am certainly not a resident of a favela, decided to risk my neck to view a rousing round of competition trampoline - I'm not making that up - the air fare is around $1800, the hotels are outrageous even if you can find one, the environment a toxic brew of festering corpses, exotic pathogens, and with all the personal safety of 80's Beirut...oh, yeah, and what did you say those event tickets cost again? Might all of that have a little to do with the empty seats, dontcha think?
Because the Olympics don’t offer what people want, duh. Consumers vote with their wallets.
Why are the Summer Games being held in the winter?
I think that more people are watching the unsanctioned purse snatching and apple picking events:

Look at the view count!!
Maybe because of American dominance?
I thought that I would do a poll at some point:
Who is more corrupt?
FIFA
IOC
It’s not supposed to be the best, it’s supposed to be the biggest. It’s bringing all these mostly marginal sports together to do them all at once, often times in a slightly modified format to make time for all the other sports.
