I know, odd that it wasn't disclosed given how relatively young this man was.
Saunders was all over ESPN. You could hardly turn on the channel without seeing him on something.
I agree. I always liked his reporting and commentary. He wasn’t a showboat like some of his colleagues.
What caused his death?
RIP.
Class act...one of the few at ESPN
ESPN has a history of prominent personalities who die relatively young. Perhaps there’s something in the water in Bristol?
Oh man. He hadn’t sounded too good lately, been wondering what was wrong. Sports Reporters is turning into a curse. Schapp died too young and now Saunders.
Had he been on the air at ESPN in recent days?
I don’t get to see The Sports Reporters as often as I would like but I liked him on the show.
He will be missed...I don’t like espn...and it’s been documented that hundreds of thousands of espn subscribers have jumped ship this yr since moving even more liberal but Saunders was a top-class sports journalist for both espn/abc
Was this the guy who made some conservative comments?
Wow. Takes me back to the early to mid 80’s, Chris Berman, Gayle Gardner, Tom Lea, and later in the decade Saunders. RIP
RIP. Only guy I could stand on ESPN. Seemed like a good fellow. His brother is named Bernie Saunders.
No cause of death listed so far.
Agree. Good voice to listen to, no stupid commentary. Can’t ask for much more in a broadcaster.
He was Canadian. He started out his career in Canada before moving to ESPN.
