I’d probably pick a ssilent comedian. Silent comedy is the only comedy that stays fresh to me. Jokes get old, but silent gags stay fresh. So, I’ll go with Buster Keaton.

John Cleese has become predictably left wing. But he was great in A Fish Called Wanda.

Best comedian? Easy. Richard Pryor.

Honorable mention. Eddie Murphy, because Delirious is still as funny now as it was back then, and very un-PC.

One episode of the Carol Burnett Show that cracks me up is where Tim Is playing a Gestapo officer interrogating an American pilot(Lyle Wagoner). At one point Tim puts on a hand puppet of Hitler and puts a pencil in the puppets hands. Tim looks straightfaced at Lyle and says “ he’s gonna hit you with that club!” Lyle completely loses his composure. OMG, one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

The correct answer is Jack Benny.

There will be other opinions for second best comedian, however.

I don't consider politics in these kind of things. The funniest television program I ever watched was Fawtly Towers. Cleese was hilarious.

The greatest (in my humble opinion) was W.C. Fields, especially for his films Man on the Flying Trapeze, and It’s a Gift. Second place goes to Bob Hope (best line: “In a dirty glass!”)

I think Judge Reinhold has largely faded away.

One of the greatest scenes ever.

“Good teacher. He really seems to care. About what I have no idea.”

Cary Grant - he could be funny or not just serious but even threatening and you believed it.

LOL, tying in with Eddie Murphy....

“Norton....come down here....I wanna show you somethin.....”

I never looked at The Honeymooners in quite the same way after that.
