Why Trump Supporters Think He'll Win
How the election looks to backers of the Republican nominee
Perhaps the hardest thing to do in contemporary American politics is to imagine how the world looks from the other side. I've made no secret of why, as a Republican, I oppose Donald Trump and what he stands for. But I've also been talking to his supporters and advisors, trying to understand how they see and hear the same things that I do, and draw such very different conclusions. What follows isn't a transcription - it's a synthesis of the conversations I've had, and the insights I've gleaned, presented in the voice of an imagined Trump supporter.
"You people in the Acela corridor aren't getting it. Again. You think Donald Trump is screwing up because he keeps saying things that you find offensive or off-the-wall. But he's not talking to you. You're not his audience, you never were, and you never will be. He's playing this game in a different way from anybody you've ever seen. And he's winning too, in a different way from anybody you've ever seen.

If you support Trump, or even if you're a stuck in the past never-Trumper, you will probably very much appreciate this article.
Thanks for this link, to the person who sent it to me. I very much appreciate this.
There is an active link to the story, below:
Frum, of all people, gets.it.
Ah, poor David Frustum (trouble in that department is never a good thing!).
Fine article, but why doesn't he declare for DJT forthrightly?
I reject the characterization that he appeals to people who fear crime. I think he’s way past that and well into appealing to the people who are darn right pissed off about crime.
I think Trump has a hidden 8% polling bonus that will be devastating to the Democrats come November
Should we be worried about the Independant candidate? He seems to be polling a solid 8%. Is he pulling evenly from both Hillary and Trump?
The articles gets off to a decent start, but it really should have been a full-length feature article with many concrete examples about alphabet agencies that don’t work, wacky political correctness in a wide variety of institutions, specific trade policies that brought hardship to specific types of workers, specific “immigrant” stories with unhappy endings.
In my state the nearest large city has had federal money thrown at it for more than sixty years. Politicians have promised they will make it better, safer, cleaner, etc. for sixty years.
They have a new program for the city calling it a Promise Zone and offering more federal money to fix buildings, education, etc.
But there is a difference this time—the previous sixty years of failure that has lead to the population of the city being reduced by a third. Also, the newest residents wear burkhas and strange looking gowns and speak strange languages. Where did they come from and why would they want to come to this dangerous and awful city?
Most people just don’t believe in it anymore—and are angry the politicians and their media lapdogs keep lying as though the last sixty years never happened.
It's his racist rant against angry white men.
No mention of what motivates our rebellion against the elites such as freedom of religion, liberty, taxation without representation, etc. Forget Frum.
Good article
Good article ,,,
Just Fix It!
I never read anything by From....I guess I am #NeverFrum
I’m sorry. I didn’t get much further than “what he stands for”. So much vapid drabble out there.
No he doesn’t. He is in his own Frum manner making fun of all Trump supporters.
He is a dem in turn coats clothing. The opening paragraphs are full of jargon and snark
Thanks for posting this. I like his snark about those in “the Acela Corridor”, but the rest of the article makes true conservatives out to be modern day “Sans Culottes “. In that he comes up short. Trump resonates with a lot more people than even Frum thinks.
Because deep in his heart, he IS one of the Acela corridor denizens who don’t know sh!t about drive by America or live with its struggles.
He’s just more perceptive than the typical liberal/elite journalist is when they’re being close minded. One might even say on this he’s being open-minded. But I view it just as “opposition research,” frankly.
I do, though, give him credit for at least getting the viewpoint from real America.
Frum is merely redefining Trump’s anti globalist revolution as a cult of personality fueled by fear and the tin ear of the ruling elites. It’s not that they wanted to take away our jobs, borders, culture and freedom, they just didn’t get that we didn’t like it.
He wants to sell us on the notion that once Trump is out of the way, it’ll be back to business as usual.
Screw that.
That part's pretty good, although Frum can't help but get a bit condescending in places.
I am angry and I have a messed up life?
I am worried about having my gun rights taken away because I might get OUIs?
Condescending moral preening ass
Frum is a democrat who sleeps with Romney.
Nothing that soapy, lying idiot says
belongs anywhere conservative.
Frum wrote this article in total disrespect.

Of course he did. It is a snide put down of Trump supporters. He says at the beginning that these views are not his, they are his characterization of Trump supporters views. He believes we are all fools but he now knows what the fools are thinking. I have news for Frum, he is only half there.
Rush has talked extensively about this "Wilder effect". When it hits in November their heads will explode.
