Homeowners returned to a Sand Canyon neighborhood Monday night, days after the raging Sand Fire tore through the area.
For some like John Kim, returning to the area meant picking through the remains of his home.
Kim’s neighbor died in his car trying to outrun the flames. The victim was a man in his 60’s.
He lived on the property with a woman, who was too distraught to speak. Their home also burned to the ground.
Kim says the man who died went back to rescue his dog.

I was wondering what happened to the dog. The story seems to have no news there, not even a statement that the dog’s fate is currently unknown.

I would imagine that he thought about how he had failed his dog. I know that is where I would be.
I saw a hawk electrocute itself about 10 days ago, and still feel so bad about not having been able to stop it. How silly is that.
Some people have that brain/emotional wiring.
I saw video of his girlfriend with a Black Lab on a leash. If they only had one dog, it survived. If they had more than one dog, it was in the car with him, and very likely died there.

I think not. Willingness to commit suicide over an animal qualifies you as deep in the neurotic continuum. (if you would actually do it that is - I have my doubts that you're really that crazy)
