LAS VEGAS (AP) — A gunman and his underage driver tried to rob a group of people playing the popular Pokemon Go game, triggering a shootout after one of the players pulled out his own weapon at a Las Vegas park that has become a hot spot for virtual creature hunting.
The incident early Monday marked the latest illustration of unintended consequences in everyday life due to the booming popularity of the GPS-powered "augmented reality" game.

These people are a nuisance. I mean, they are mostly harmless, just off in some other world with their faces glued to their phones. Don’t even look around to see where they are going, if they are stepping in front of a speeding bicycle or auto, or stopping traffic on a busy street, all for what? A fargin’ selfie, basically.
I’ll stick with riding my bicycle and doing my best to avoid these knuckleheads.

You blamed the victim. A gamer playing with cartoon characters on their PED. Playing a kids game. Absolutely no moral equivalence to armed predation.

Police said an armed man and the young driver drove up to the group in an SUV and demanded their possessions at gunpoint. One of the Pokemon players who has a concealed weapons permit drew his own gun and the two sides exchanged fire.
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good Pokemon Trainer with a gun.

That game sucks the batteries fast. My daughter was using hers at the zoo and her phone went from 100% to 4% in about 4 hours.
Tell her to turn off AR Mode in the game, dim the screen a bit, use the game’s power saver mode and turn off wifi and Bluetooth if they’re not needed... ;-)
