If this is the Russians (read: Putin), they are trying to make certain that they get an ally or at least neutral player in what they see (correctly) as war with Islam. They may not LIKE Trump, but the Russians take a long view...
If in Putin’s calculus he has decided that a strong USA is no direct threat to Russia (now), but could provide some vital assistance in killing jihadis, they will do what they need to do to make sure they get a person they can do business with in the White House.
Putin isnt about killing jihadis, he wants to restore the Russian Empire.
That is a considerable point of contention vs the US.
Trump, the isolationist, seems less likely to pay attention to his plots.
