I thnk the 6000 police officers were probably the biggest factor.

One of the reasons why the police are attacked is that they are closely constrained as to what they can do by law when confronted. The thugs have confidence in the police.

However, a private citizen is not so constrained because a private citizen has the right of self-defense. The protesters can harass a policeman in the sure knowledge he will not fire on them. They can’t be so sure with a private citizen.

And yet, many of you say “NO” to open carry.

Amen!

God forgive me, but I hope Philadelphia proves gun free zones are not good.

I’m sorry, the thugs had another engagement to get ready for, the DNC 2016 in the city of Brotherly love and soon to be burning cars, broken windows and pepper balls fired by officers.

There was a time in New Orleans ... (about the same time as the OJ Hearings)... Carjackings, Kidnappings and Rapes at Stop Lights were like 2 a day ... they changed the Law and said that now your Car was an Extension of your House and you could Protect Yourself with Deadly Force ... it was like the very next day a Perp was riddled with lead and it made Headlines ... Carjackings stopped immediately.

It appears that the 9th Ward reads the Newspaper or watches the local News.

Agree with your thoughts. When the reward from funding could benefit Trump more than liberal causes, bet Soros determined it wasn’t worth his taking a risk with his money. Doubt if he amassed his wealth and power by being a dummy.

A lot of pics of them on previous threads.

Plus the police formed lines cordoning off individual groups from one another. Suspect that helped a bit.

Cleveland did it well.
Lived there years ago. Great people. Experienced a lot of kindness from stranger there. East Cleveland.... different story.

Isn’t it kind of ironic that a gunman, if they are going after a political figure, targets not the vast number of armed security surrounding the politician, but they aim squarely on the one person out of the sea of armed people, that does not have a gun?

Kind of defeats their point about how not having a gun makes a person safer.

Speaking as one who frequently Open Carries, I’ve noticed the exceptional service and polite interactions that I’m blessed with when I OC.

It’s probably just my sweet and charming personality.

Another factor is the residents of Cleveland. Most wanted what happens downtown to stay downtown. Cleveland is not a place where the rabble-rousers who came to town were able to get locals to join in.

When BLM did so, a large number of those who got it going were stupid college kids who know what's best for everyone else. The snowflakes are on summer break.

Just a guess.

Oh, by the way, some inside baseball. The reason why Ohio finally got concealed carry some years ago was that the gun activists finally got ticked off and started having Open Carry demos.

According to FR’s hand-wringing, surrender monkey brigade, President Buckwheat would declare marshal (sp) law and send out 10-foot-tall federal Rambos (or 50 ChiComm divisions hiding in containers at the Oakland port) to seize every rifle in the land by day two of the convention.

Do you think this is because demonstrators thought Trump supporters might be legally armed? Did the demonstrators not want to risk getting shot during one of their assaults?

The Trump supporters WERE legally armed! I saw them at a Trump rally at Edgewater Park on Day 1. White, black and Hispanic armed citizens, carrying legally and openly.

Apparently, the threats by the out-of-state Black Supremacists comprised of the New Black Panther/BLM thugs to use Ohio open carry laws to disrupt the convention by showing up with guns were kind of a "lock and load" moment for normal people in the Cleveland area.

I don't know what happened. Perhaps the student lawyer-wannabes that advised them finally told them that unless you have a valid CCW license, you can't open carry in Ohio, and if you try it's felony. And those niggahs could never, ever pass the FBI background check to get a valid CCW license.

Sorry kids. Maybe they won't be such meanies as in Philly as in Cleveland. Have fun in Philly.

Guess it’s a good thing KaSick didn’t listen to that Police Chief.

(Not that KaSick could’ve overruled the rule of law.)

Or, it's possible that (with your handle), they recognize you are a reasonable person worthy of respect. If ya show up standing tall about yourself, we all respect you.

Ya know, we tend to abide by old-fashioned "guys' rules" around here.

I would say no. The stalinists need a martyr or two. Any shooting by “Trump supporting, right wing, nazi, extremist” would be on the news cycle for days. Bikers for Tump may have had an effect.

I guess it is a good thing that Kasich didn’t put a temporary ban on guns at the convention center.

Let’s see what happens in the city of brotherly love next week.
