This policy, established by somebody with no particular authority, directly contradicts the doctrine that marriage is a sacrament, a holy estate established and blessed by God.
This touches on another HUGE problem with Muslim marriage, one that will sooner or later explode into a major problem in the West; namely that Muslim marriage does not involve ANY formal consent by the woman. How will western courts deal with the problem of women “married” under Islam who sooner or later complain that they had never consented?
Or a woman who claims that her "husband" repeatedly raped her? (beating a wife who rejects sex with her husband is permitted under Islam)
