sources of noise caused by electrons building up on the inner Teflon coating of the tank holding a third-of-a-ton of cooled liquid xenon. If a WIMP collided with of a xenon atom within the tank, powerful sensors inside would detect the tiny flash of light and electrical charge created.

This is far beyond my ken, but look at the fun acronyms!

And where else would you find 700 pounds of liquid xenon!

They thought they found some, but it was just some bacon sticking to the Teflon.

Would Ted Cruz interact with the xenon if he were in the tank or would he just repulse all the xenon?

Maybe WIMPs are wimpier than they thought.
Not only weak but shy too.

The crumbs stuck to the pan is where flavor is hidden.

That’s what all the xenon is for!
Its anesthetic properties; to loosen them up.

"... third-of-a-ton of cooled liquid xenon."

Is a third-of-a-ton of cooled, liquid zenon
worth a lot of money?
What happens to it after the experiment?
Just let it evaporate into the air maybe?

From google:

Cost, pure: $120 per 100g

All the cyphering to determine total cost for 1/3 ton would make my brain hurt!

Suffice to say, big bucks.

2000 / 3 = 667#

667 / 2.2 = 303 kg = 303,000 g

303,000/100 = 3030 units at $120 per.

3030 x 120 = $455k.

Math not checked.

Math not checked.

If you like it, I love it!

You may need some large dewar flasks to hold it and who knows what to keep it.

Don't forget labor and a flock of safety BS.
My guess ONE QUARTER MILLION PLUS DOLLARS, to return it to your lab.

PS: I confess to spending years in some very nice research facilities.
