There are at least 10 threads covering the speech and the fallout, so no need to discuss that.
Instead, the fact that the most "Christian" candidate this year ends up being the most hateful, spiteful and selfish *sshole around is a good thing to discuss.
How do his supporters justify the disconnect between his beliefs and behavior?

I’d venture to say that 99% of the folks that vote Trump in the upcoming election would never vote Cruz in the future (regardless of whether Trump wins or not).
That’s a mighty big voting block to have against you.

This morning on the radio, they were interviewing one of Cruz’s campaign managers (forget her name - she now works for CNN). They asked her for her take on Cruz’s refusal to endorse Trump.
Unbelievably, she said in essence, “Well, he may still endorse Trump, but there’s a LOT he has to do first to prove himself before earning Cruz’s endorsement.”
The fellow on the radio was incredulous. “Trump is your Party’s nominee!” he yelled.
Attempting sweet reason with a hardcore, committed Cruzlim is like trying to lick your way to the center of a concrete block. ;)
That block is set in stone too, after yesterday’s debacle.
To be fair, I have supported Donald Trump since early on, but I was willing to let the two fight it out, and then hopefully they would determine who won, figure a way then make up.
But what Cruz did yesterday was to alienate everyone in the entire party. Every single person. He alienated EVERYONE.
He is done. No coming back, after that. He is done.
I supported Cruz early on. When a man says (2x) that he will support the nominee and then doesn’t, we have a name for that. Ted is a liar. He’s lost my trust. He needs to apologize not only to Trump but to all Republicans.

Ted presented himself as a much different man than he actually was. To discover he had a fibber McGee style closet full of women come tumbling out was a disappointment. Had he admitted that, repent, and beg mercy, maybe but to have such sewage dumped out in public as he is in the act pretending virtue was and will be abhorrent. And the women tumbled just as he imploded and became irrelevant which means they never really reached the awareness of most voters. So he has yet to suffer the damage they will do. Hope they have room for him at Goldman Sachs because he probably is unelectable for dog catcher.

I respect that and understand where you are coming from. For me, Ted lost it when he stabbed Carson and Trump in the back in Iowa. It was pretty clear at that moment that he was a conniving self-serving politician and not an upstanding man of moral character. Subsequent events proved that out.
History is full of “christians” (small c) who wore their credentials on their sleeves for all the world to see who fell from grace due to a sex addiction.
Powerful men are an aphrodisiac to some women. Spiritual men are an even stronger aphrodisiac to some women. And the men love it because they love the adulation and can’t get enough. I believe this is Cruz’s problem. He sees himself in the mirror as an Adonis not realizing the women aren’t attracted to him because of his looks. But because of his power. There is usually a hard fall at the end.
Marjoe Gorner said when he was 6 years old and out on the circuit a grown woman told him that she Bible said the lamb will lay down with the lion. She said she dreamed that she was the lamb and he was the lion and she wanted to “lay” with him. He said he didn’t know what she meant until years later. The woman was blinded by the “spiritual greatness” of a 6 year old.

He’s trying to be Reaganesque. But Cruz is no Reagan. Having said that I point out that Trump also refused to the GOP nominee unless it was him. He set this in motion at the first debate. Now it’s coming back to haunt him, just as so many other things he’s said have.
