Family: No lawsuit over Disney World gator attack
abc13 ^

Posted on 07/20/2016 8:44:07 AM PDT by BenLurkin

"Melissa and I are broken. We will forever struggle to comprehend why this happened to our sweet baby, Lane. As each day passes, the pain gets worse, but we truly appreciate the outpouring of sympathy and warm sentiments we have received from around the world.

We know that we can never have Lane back, and therefore, we intend to keep his spirit alive through the Lane Thomas Foundation. It is our hope that through the foundation we will be able to share with others the unimaginable love Lane etched in our hearts.

In addition to the foundation, we will solely be focused on the future health of our family and will not be pursuing a lawsuit against Disney. For now, we continue to ask for privacy as we focus on our family."

No question who will be the biggest donor to this “foundation”.

Frankly, I’m disappointed. I wanted to see Disney ripped to shreds.

Yes, already settled privately. No way they did not. Disney really blew it on this but apparently settled than make more public spectacle of a bad situation. Hopefully they will now do more to keep alligators out of the park.

Really? They have already received a payout?
Good if it happened, just surprised how quickly.

Really? Makes sense but there’s nothing I can find that confirms that.

Why this way the money went to the family and not lawyers.

Of course. Disney has a team of laywers and actually budgets for settlements, as do most large companies. I was surprised Trump would rather fight than settle, but then he has that luxury as a private company. A public company CEO would be spending half his life giving depositions just to get himself out of suits that would name everyone in from the top down as defendants.

IOW, Disney created and massively fund the foundation.

I wouldn’t want to live their lives for ANY amount of money. If their marriage survives this, it will be a miracle.

Have you SEEN the face of that child? I’m as cold and heartless as they come, but when I finally say his face, I totally lost it.

Somehow, I doubt that.

If Disney were smart they would. Looks like they did. Very smart of both sides.

Those Disney lawyers are paid for just this kind of event.

By the way, Disney and ABC are still in the tank for the leftists.

Well, perhaps. Maybe Disney Co tribute to the foundation named for their son. Suing Disney for this would have been hollow. Some realize that. Prayers for the family in their heartbreak I ng loss.

No reason to wait for 10 years to get less money. Disney has been around the block before and knows what the going rate is for stupid. The people probably know that their lifestyle will be more than they ever dreamed putting the difference between $10 million and $50 million with a long wait and lawyers eating it up, as a small matter. Either payout won’t bring back their child. Depending what what the actual payout was, I think it’s the smartest move.
