Why rush on the bus with your gun out ?

The female cop escalated the situation. She did a few things wrong:
1) she aimed her pistol at the driver.
2) she went in with her handgun out in front of her, losing control of the situation.
3)It appeared there was an AD when he first jumped her, when her arm was waving around dangerously close to the bus driver. Could have shot the driver twice.
4) once she got in hand to hand combat the extended handgun in hand meant she was fighting 1 handed. At a disadvantage.
5) she gave up. Notice one the shoot happens it is the cop who shot him who gets her up and out, she was a wet noodle, in reaction mode, she lost her situational awareness.
Basically by going to the handgun before the Taser she made sure the perp would submit or be shot. Not very bright.
What she should have done was get the driver to come out with the keys, then talk the Hispanic guy down or wait for backup. Police are not supposed to go to deadly force unless no other option exists. Because she is female and weak, she has to do to deadly force much quicker.
Better yet, get rid of weak female cops and go back to the old model of guys who can handle themselves in a fighting situation. Kind of like your ex-drill sergeant types. very intimidation and they do not have to escalate to deadly force.
That said it is a good shoot, but should not have happened.

Yep. First officer didn’t have a good avenue of approach due to the angle coming into the bus. If perp had been armed he could have fired on her. That’s why she charged. Her mistake was not firing as soon as he made his move but it happened very fast.
Good job by second officer.

Exactly right! Why cop was holding gun “out” at such close range and tight quarters is beyond me! WOW! Fortunate that the only person shot was the bad guy!

This is why I said years ago semi-auto’s should never be used by LEO’s. One shot with a wheel gun shoulda done the trick.
First 2 shots may have missed. Last three were after the perp stopped moving but possibly before he let go of his partners gun. I would have fired the last three also.
Dad was a marine, then NYPD. He taught me how to shoot, How to breathe out and ‘squeeze’ off a round. I have been negative about the spray and pray technique for years. But the more I see videos of hopped up jerks like this POS I now understand the many shots philosophy at least in similar situations.
