ACLU preparing for legal challenges if Trump gets elected

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) released a 28-page report Friday arguing most of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s governing agenda is unconstitutional, and promises to keep a running tally of all Trump’s policy goals that run afoul of the Constitution.

Titled “The Trump Memos,” the analysis encompasses the New York billionaire’s proposals on immigration, torture, libel, abortion, and government surveillance. It effectively serves as a blueprint for the legal arguments the ACLU would marshall when challenging Trump’s initiatives if elected president.

“Donald Trump’s proposed policies, if carried out, would trigger a constitutional crisis,” ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero wrote Wednesday in the Washington Post. “By our reckoning, a Trump administration would violate the First, Fourth, Fifth and Eighth amendments if it tried to implement his most controversial plans.”

“But we need to be prepared because the very freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution could come under a sustained attack by a President Trump in the Oval Office,” he continued. “If that day comes, make no mistake: We’ll be seeing him in court.”

If trump can keep the ACLU at war with the Govt lawyers for 8 years, I'd vote for an amendment to give him a 3rd term.

Most (if not all) of the Obungler's governing agenda is unconstitutional. They are, of course, MIA on that. What a bunch of a$$ hats.

If this was not serious it would be funny....challenging his potential laws as unconstitutional. Let me see, are they saying his proposing certain legislation is unconstitutional? Or are they saying the laws, if passed, would be unconstitutional? Or both? I think all those decisions rest with the SC, not these dolts with the exception of fact the President does not file legislation proposals, the Congress. He proposes a legislative agenda.

Since when did the aCLU ever worry about the U.S. Constitution? This is new. When Trump wins, he needs to give these commie lib jerks their “due process” and throw them in jail.

The libs are sure acting like they’re about to lose the election if the ACLU is mobilizing this early. It’s laughable they’re proclaiming most of Trump’s political agenda “unconstitutional”. This from the side of the aisle that ignores and bypasses our sacred document until it becomes necessary for their political agenda to pay attention to it. These folks are scared to their bones!

This is the classic MO of the left now.

Rule by judicial fiat no matter who is in office.

Evidently they have had no problem with Barky ruling from the White House for 8 years.

The ACLU is used to picking of people who either lack the resources or the will/guts to fight back. They’ve never tried to land a punch on a guy like Trump. If he gets the bully pulpit, he will so trash the ACLU—by citing FACTS most people don’t know—all the members will need unlisted phones and big rocks to crawl under and hide until the worst of it blows over. Even then their brand will be ruined for all practical purposes. Honey badger don’t care.

The First Day, President Trump needs to de-fund any and all government support of these commies, by EO if necessary.

The ACLU gets it right about 3% of the time - this would be a huge slap in its face.

The ACLU doesn’t realize that Trump has to deal with recalcitrant politicians before—the New York City City Council and the state legislature of New York. As such, he knows all their tricks—sorry ACLU!

An evaluation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is forthcoming.

I'll write it for them:

After consultation with FBI Director Comey, we concluded that any apparent violations of the U. S. Constitution are acceptable because there is no evidence that Hillary Clinton intended to violate it. Even though on the day that she declared herself dictator for life, Madam Clinton literally shredded the actual document with her bare hands, spat, urinated, and defecated on it, then doused it in gasoline and set it on fire, we are confident that she feels bound by the Constitution's hallowed principles (at least as both ACLU and Hillary want them to be).

President Trump can just do what Obama has done:

1. Executive Order.

2. Ignore legal rulings that don’t suit him. Take the action and then worry about the clean up later. Deport who he wants to deport.

The FBI certainly needs to arrest Hillary and the Muslim Brotherhood all the way to the top.

The future of this country is at stake. We’ve got to purge now!

You said it. The ACLU has no idea. Most of Trump’s 16 primary opponents decided, at some point, that attacking Trump would be a good idea. They kept on doing it even after observing the rapid and utter destruction of their fellow candidates who’d gone this route. Cruz even did it after seeing ALL prior attacks backfire like huge exploding cigars.

The ACLU has seen all this, but they imagine they’re different. They’ll attack Trump and walk away smelling like roses.

They won’t even know what hit them.
