“bed-bug detecting dog”

Do you think the police dogs and fire dogs say, “There but for the grace of Dog go I.”?

Skinnies don’t make much of a meal, so maybe their bedbugs journey from Portland and Lewiston to the big city for some real eatin’?

What municipal offices do you think might be infested?
I may be wrong but I’m going to guess the places where Somalis go to claim public benefits.

I wonder how you say in Somali arabic, “Meet my little friends!”
;-)

Apologies, should have mentioned what I found funny:

Just imagining my GSD mumbling your quote:

Do flea bombs or foggers get rid of bedbugs as well as fleas?

Not according to one of those shows I watched on the Geography channel a while back. They are resistant to chemicals. They showed using a gas powered turbo heater and a bunch of duct work (larger version of a dryer vent hose) which they run into your house and bring the temp to about 115 degrees. I have heard the exterminators charge about $6,000 for this. I hope I never have to find out. Any time I have to stay in a hotel I check carefully! I’ve heard they are everywhere now.

People use to lock down these infestations easily with a simple trip to the corner drugstore. Now thanks the the EPA regulations its become an unbearable cost to many victims of these bug ...so they get out of control.

I’ve heard they are everywhere now.

I've been living in the same house since 1956—just 15 miles from the Maine border—and we've got bedbugs here. (Small welts).

or Somali immigrants

I think this is one time you can blame it on good old white trash Americans. Augusta Maine is not a Somali resettlement city.

As to the office they were found, yes it was The welfare office. Quite frankly I don’t think if they were in someone else’s office, they would have id them as bedbugs. The staffer knew exactly what it was and put a piece of tape on it so it could be positively id by the exterminating co.

I use to manage an 8 unit apt building here in Portland and had to deal with bedbugs even though we had no section 8 or other subsidized tenants.
