Can you recommend any good nonalcoholic beers? Every mass-market one I’ve tried tastes like dishwater. Perhaps some microbrewery somewhere makes a decent one. Or perhaps such a thing is just not possible.

Anyway, are there any NA’s that are at least better than the rest?

Unfortunately, not really. Alcohol at some level is an important component of the balanced taste of a beer. Session beers have very low alcohol content, generally below 4%. Session beers can have loads of flavor by using roasted malts and balanced hops. Many are served by a beer engine or nitro taps, which give them a smooth character that makes them even more appealing.

I haven't found a single example yet of a non-alcoholic beer that does it for me. Not even close.
