Texas Waffle House robber armed with AK-47 shot by customer carrying licensed handgun

A man armed with an AK-47 robbed several customers at a Dallas-area Waffle House before he was shot in the restaurant parking lot by a man carrying a licensed handgun, police said.

The suspected robber, Antoine Devon Cooper, 26, entered the Waffle House in Desoto at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, July 7, police said in a news release.

After allegedly holding up several customers, Cooper exited the restaurant.

A customer armed with a pistol—worried because his wife was headed to the restaurant—followed Cooper outside and called out to the robber.

After reading the article, I think maybe the kid in the GIF is saying “That’s Texas!” instead of “That’s racist!” Read his lips.

All Waffle House restaurants are supposed to be gun free zones" by corporate policy. I wonder if they'll try to prosecute the guy?

Antoine, eh? Must be Alsatian. Although, from the pictures, I have to say he’s got a great tan.

I suspect we will find out via BLM press releases disguised as news reports, “the suspected robber, Antoine Devon Cooper” was a well liked member of his community, who was turning his life around. He was just trying to do his best for his kids. He made a mistake and did not deserve to die..

Then will come the call for arrest and prosecution of the racist who shot and killed this fine young man.

NEXT, since today is the BLM DAY OF RAGE (Probably a new Monday holiday added to the calendar next year) I think we will see more than a few posters featuring “The suspected robber, Antoine Devon Cooper”.

The pic is a little bizarre—when I first saw it I thought it was a newborn infant in the PICU.

Texas has some real dangerous whackos running around, trying to ruin people’s lives just for the pure pleasure. Guys like Antoine Devon Cooper and Ronnie Earle. So the shootist isn’t out of the woods yet if the prosecutor is some punk Demowhack out to make a name for him/her self.

Tats are like rattles on a snake. They are a good general indicator of trouble ahead. Give them wide berth and keep your holster unsnapped.

Yep! He even gave his mother half of the money he got from robbing and stealing. A pillar of his community he was.

Texas has a pretty far reaching self defense law which covers protecting you your castle and your neighbors life and possessions. I recall all the bluster about the guy who called 911 a few years ago from near Houston wherein he saw some criminals looting his neighbor’s house. The 911 operator was telling him to do nothing as he blew at least one of them away with his 12 gauge. Pundits were speculating on how severe his charge would be up to including 2nd degree. In the end, no charges, he was within the Texas law.

Don’t mess with (or in) Texas!!

The reality is that Waffle Houses tend to have clienteles that are quite apt to include people who are armed with or without licenses. An unlicensed man who is carrying a gun just might shoot another man who is pointing a gun at him or other customers. WH denizens also tend to be people who believe that it is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. While it is getting dangerous for robbers to rob all sorts of small businesses WH is perhaps a little more dangerous than others.
