German soldiers union
A unionized military.
I guess there is plenty of time for this idiocy between wars.
Now I’ve heard it all.
The EU really thinks they can prevent a Third Great European War by establishing a pan-European army, when the Third Great European War will undoubtedly be fought between the pan-European army and fed-up European citizens.
Unionized military in Europe is nothing new. In the 1970’s the Dutch army was infamous for its hairnets.
Germany is far more divided socially than it appears. The old joke has it,
“Germans don’t like the French, Germans don’t like the British, Germans don’t like the Poles, Germans don’t like the Swedes.”
“In fact, Germans don’t like each other.”
Cobra’s elite Crimson Guard had one in the 80s cartoon that was referred to once. I thought it was humorous anyway.
It’s a necessity because of the crappy benefits that most of the German career soldiers faced in the 1970s and 1980s. The unions forced the government to standardized benefit packages that most US career soldiers have.
In the factory, the foreman asks the workers to do a dangerous job, and the union shop steward objects and tells the guys not to do the job because its unsafe.
So how does this shake out on a battlefield?
