What is a cell phone?

Just a passing fad. Sort of like that Internet thingy.

AT&T Go Phones work on H2O Wireless, and don’t need to be unlocked. Just change the AT&T sim for an H2O sim. H2O users AT&T cell towers. Pay as You Go Minute cards start at $10 (10 cents minute talk, 10 cents text and 10 cents a mega byte data) good for 90 days.

The also have various unlimited plans. We use H2O and really like it.

Verizon is expensive but i pay for the quality of their coverage and signal strength. Rarely have a coverage issue with them wherever i am. They just redid their data plans and I get a nice 16G package thats enough for the whole family at $90/month.

I have Metro PCS. $30/month. No contract. Got nice smart phone by just paying the tax ($9).

Unlimited text. Unlimited phone. Unlimited internet. The only limit is that if I go over so many minutes of internet, then my communication is downgraded from 4G to 3G. I get no surprises.

I pay no tax ... or if I do ... it's incorporated into my $30/month fee.

I’m on Fi also. Typical bill is $30 a month after taxes. I’ve had coverage in the middle of nowhere traveling through WVa too :-). It uses both Sprint and TMobile networks (hops onto the better of the two depending on location) when there is no WiFi present.

Yes, Google is a liberal cesspool, but so are all of the others out there (I am going to check into Patriot after reading about it on this thread).

I use T-Mobile $30 plan. I get 100 mins of talk and 5gb of data at 4g and after that 3g speeds. I had bought my LG3 from Ebay (new).
Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Cell-Phones-and-Smartphones/9355/bn_320094/i.html

T-Mobile Plans:
https://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/other-prepaid-plans
A phone that uses Verizon can swap out a SIM card to use with T-Mobile.
Check if you can transfer http://www.t-mobile.com/switch/
What carriers work with each other:
https://www.whistleout.com/Tablets/Guides/Can-I-use-my-verizon-sprint-phone-on-a-different-network

I use Skype for phone calls. It uses your data. A phone call uses 1 to 3mb per minute so if you divide that into 5gb data you get 1000 to 3000 minutes of talk. I use the 100 mins from T-Mobile for emergencies if Skype cannot connect. A Skype account is about $30 a year. http://www.skype.com

I am about 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles and I get reception everywhere I go in the San Fernando valley. I work up in Calabasas which is another 20 miles north of LA. Get great reception within several miles but inside the building I work in it is weak. The co-workers who have Verizon get great reception inside. Data like 40mbs down where I get maybe 1mb so phone service is spotty using T-Mobile or Skype. I either step outside or go near a window for calls. I can get data at my desk, example for websites.
I have viewed movies at Netflix and Youtube.

I’ll second ATT GoPhone plan. It’s prepaid month to month. No long term contract. Bring your own phone, if you wish. I really like not being locked in long term.

I have been using a smart phone I bought online at Amazon. It is an LG and I bought my wife one when it was $20. She liked it so much that when I went to buy one for me it had actually doubled in price to $39. They work phenomenally and am very impressed especially since I can see little difference in these from the ones costing hundreds of dollars.

It is prepaid with Verizon @ $45 a month with unlimited text and voice with 1 GB of data. Since we are both usually on WiFi data has never been an issue. Also Verizon is a little expensive, but in our market it is simply the best coverage hands down, so worth the extra $. I just do not see the need to spend hundreds of dollars a month on plans hundreds on a phone. Even though I use it extensively for work, I ave found it to be reliable and cheap.

I had the windows phone gophone edition and it was awesome. But the lack of apps forced me to the android.

My wife and I both use Moto E basic smartphones on tracfone. I spend about $10.00a month mostly text. You can refill with a 90 day minute card for $19.99. Includes triple minutes. You can also refill 1000 text min for $10.00 or a 300 mb data card for $10.00.. phone runs on Verizon good coverage where I use it.

I don’t have a smart phone and pay little for talk/text only.

Had to stop and ask a cop for directions a couple of weeks ago. It was 2004 all over again.

My whole family has used straight talk for years. I am a retired truck driver and I have used it in several states and never had a problem with reception.
If AT&T or verizon will work there, so will straight talk.
You can ask the walmart employee to give you a phone that will activate on verizon or at&t depending on what works best in your area.

Other than a initial $25 top up fee which covered porting, phone change out and 4 cents per mms(Texted photos) I haven't spent a penny since last Nov. with Ringplus. I get 1500 min. Talk, 1500 texts and 1500 mb Data per month. I will need to top up again in Sept as texted photos are whittling down my balance. The Ringplus Plans change all the time so my deal is long gone, but others this last Spring were getting as much as 3000 min, texts and mb. Uses Sprint leased service, not 100% dependable for cell service as calls go to Ringplus servers before Sprints but I have never lost Data or texting ability.

I just went over 5 years of using Verizon. Very happy with it. The great thing about Verizon is it is everywhere so you never have interruptions like you do with all the other companies. Good luck with your decision.
