When I first read the headline, I thought maybe it was going to be a list of reccomended firearms for my wish-list. I think I’m already good to go.

I think the negligence that lead up to Tamir Rice’s death is the answer to your question.

The article contradicts itself by saying that the preference is for “cheap junk” guns but that drug money allows criminals to buy quality guns.

The list of guns shows 50 Lorcins & 40 Ravens. From what little I know about guns, esp the Lorcins, those are the “junk”. The rest are Glocks, SWs, Colts, Rugers, Charter, Bersas and very decent brands. Of course, every manufacturer has some junk models in their line.

But for the most part, I would posit that these are not any better nor worse guns than any other sampling one might find out there, indeed, they might well be better than average.

Plus....these are guns “seized”. They may or may not have been used in crimes.

If neighboring areas have lax gun laws, why aren’t their crime rates as high as Chicago?

You're obviously racis /s>

“almost 60 percent of firearms recovered at Chicago crime scenes were first bought in states that do not require background checks”

Rather silly statement, considering that 64% of states do not require a background check for private sales. The vast majority of sales, do require background checks because of federal law.

But background checks do nothing to stop stolen firearms or “strawman” purchasers from obtaining guns for criminals. Those are the main sources for guns used in crime.

All dealer to public and Internet firearms purchases go through a licensed firearms dealer which requires a background check. Private sales between individuals does not require a background check. But many private sales may be unlawful for varying reasons. But surprise surprise criminals are not concerned about illegality.

I know of at least one fire arms dealer in Indiana that will not sell guns to most residents of Illinois. He says he does have a couple of regulars that he has been doing business with for a long time.

I remember joking after Obama said something about books being hard to come by in the city that they should enact some tough book-control legislation ... that way the gangs would be motivated to bring in an endless supply of cheap books.

There is no Internet or gun show “loophole”. EVERY every sale by a licensed dealer must go through a background check and EVERY interstate transfer of a firearm must go through a FFL dealer, even if the person makes the purchase through the Internet.

The “loophole” that anti-freedom liberals want to close is where one private citizen is allowed to transfer a firearm to another private citizen without going through a background check. Idiot liberals want you to think that their aim is to keep guns out of the hands of criminals (as if criminals will obey the law), but their real aim is to make so many gun laws that it will be impossible for the law abiding to own a gun.

He really did that? Was there not one actual gun owning person in that whole department who could tell him what the thing he was holding actually was?

I read one article where the writer called a Ruger 10/22 an “assault rifle”.

In typical liberal fashion, bammy and other anti gun libtards fail to see the real lesson here. Tough gun laws in Chicago, law abiding citizens go without, criminals get them somewhere else. They fail to grasp the obvious, criminals break laws. Enact the same laws in surrounding communities and criminals will just bring them in from further away - no doubt charging more for the service, inspiring *more* crime. Liberals are stupid, truly stupid.

The can’t even read their on data correctly. Clearly criminals prefer moderately priced guns of good quality.

If they can’t get that simple chart right, why should we trust them to pass more restrictive gun laws?

Granted, it’s not a failing of state or Federal gun laws. All Obola and Rahm need to do is actually enforce those laws by prosecuting and incarcerating any gang banger who’s caught illegally possessing a gun. Rudy did that and massively cut the NYC murder rate, regardless of other state’s gun laws.

Proof of propaganda not being for the informed.

Anyone who doesn’t know the difference between an AK and AR should not be holding one.
