Support for Donald Trump has plunged as he has alienated fellow Republicans and large majorities of voters overall in the course of a month of self-inflicted controversies, propelling Democrat Hillary Clinton to a double-digit lead nationally in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey finds sweeping unease with the presumptive Republican nominee’s candidacy – from his incendiary rhetoric and values to his handling of both terrorism and his own business – foreshadowing that the November election could be a referendum on Trump more than anything else.
Roughly two in three Americans say they think Trump is unqualified to lead the nation; are anxious about the idea of him as president; believe his comments about women, minorities and Muslims show an unfair bias; and see his attacks on a federal judge because of his Mexican-American heritage as racist.
A slimmer majority say they disapprove of the way Clinton has handled questions about her use of a personal email server while she was secretary of state, and half of Americans are anxious about the prospect of a Clinton presidency, underscoring the historic unpopularity of the two major-party candidates.

Hillary’s campaign has spent tens of millions of dollars basically to whine about Trump.
Trump’s campaign has not even seriously started yet.
I like to think that Trump is holding back the best for last, letting Hillary’s campaign waste all its money, and then hitting her on policy.
How do we reconcile this poll showing Hillary up by double digits nationwide, with another article today, indicating how Hillary is in tight races in many battleground states? And that there are new states in play this time around, such as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin?
If Hillary were really up double digits, then you wouldn’t see so many tight polls in battleground states, and wouldn’t see more battleground states this election cycle than the last one. Something doesn’t add up here.
Apparently, there are Freepers willing to help spread the Hillary lies via threads. To one and all, we’re not buying the Liberal BS polls. I refuse to be demoralized when everyone I talk to is voting Trump!
It’s psywar. The GOP and Dems are trying to demoralize Trump supporters. But they are way over the top and the hysterical tone of the writing gives away the propagandic nature of the article. It reminds me of Cruz’s “Donald will not be the nom” tantrums.
Then it sounds like Hillary has nothing to worry about. She is gonna wrap this up just like Carters reelection in 1980.

You are being unfair to the poster.
We all know the poll is part of the ongoing effort by the Hillary sycophants to influence public opinion. It makes me livid to see it. But we would all be very foolish to ignore it and pretend it doesn’t exist simply because it is a pack of lies.
By posting for each other we are informed. That is also what these forums are for. Not just discussion and debate, but helping each other know just what is going on and what your opponents (in this case enemies) are up to.
I try to be as realistic about things as possible here and get castigated and accused of defeatism - at times rather nastily. If we can’t be realistic and honest about what we face, we can’t beat it.
