Given the history, it’s highly unlikely. It’s more credible that Scotland and Northern Ireland would join Ireland, but even that is not probable. You’d have Greater Ireland, and Great Britain would be reduced to just England. What a strange historical turn that would make.

The probability is less than zero. You do know they fought a civil war to separate from the UK? The Irish hate the British, so no, it will never happen. Why ask this?

“Ireland votes to join the UK”

LOL. I’m guessing that you don’t know many pople from Ireland.

The UK will likely desintegrate. Scotland and Northern Ireland will break away to stay in the EU. The EU offers a €14.3 trillion market and the UK a €2.8 trillion market. Not a hard decision at all.

The UK is done. France and Germany will make sure of it.

Huh?
Did you not know that the Republic of Ireland is a totally independent country? Did you not know that the North of Ireland comprises of 6 counties that are considered - politically as a colony of England?

For 1000 years the Irish people have been invaded & their land seized. (It started with the Vikings BEFORE 1066) Finally, after the 1916 uprising & Michael Collins most of Ireland was allowed its own autonomy.

Ireland is not yet free — it’s never invaded a foreign country & always been the recepient of invasion. And the Irish spirit is one of defiance. Did you not know that harpists were executed in Ireland & harps were burned? For more than 200 years owning a harp or being a harpist brought death — yet what do the Irish do? Make the harp one of their national symbols.

Ireland WILL NEVER go backwards to the domination that was Britain.

I’m not so sure here. I’ve only been to Ireland once and that was for a few weeks.

My wife and I are talking about this and seem to be disagreeing: Was it Northern Ireland that allowed people to own guns (Albeit VERY VERY VERY insanely “controlled”) or was it the Republic ?

Because the Republic didn’t like the North too much, and the north weren’t too fond of the south. So this kinda makes me associate the notion with NYC breaking away from the US (Which it honestly did years ago) and then having Upstate “wish to rejoin NYC”

The two can’t stand each other.

So what is the proportion of Sinn Fein in the Ireland parliament? Since in the EU parliament they align with the Communists.

Historically not a good idea. That’s like Armenia wanting to join Turkey. I mean like it wasn’t too long ago they were engaged in sectarian violence.

Though with this Pope, I would not be surprised.

BTW - The SNP aligns with the Greens in the EU parliament.

More likely Northern Ireland would join the South and stay in the EU, until next year, emerging as a united Catholic Ireland.

I would not be surprised if the Brits returned to their Catholic roots as well, under Our Lady of Walsingham’s guidance.

Spain is asking for joint custody of Gibraltar, to stem the tide of locusts from the ME.

France, the eldest daughter of the Church will also be exiting the EU in short order. Not sure how the Catholics will fare in a civil war with Islam, but it is coming.

Germany and Turkey will unite and wage war on Christendom.

Slim to none, with Slim having left town.
Anglo-Normans built castles all over Ireland and pretty much treated the Irish like livestock, then like rented mules for centuries.

Wife and I earlier this evening watched the BBC two part ‘Gunpowder Plot’ about Guy (Guido) Fawkes and Catholic co-conspirators trying to blow up Parliament 1603?.
I didn’t know King James I was such a weenie. Considering his Bible and everything, gosh.

No way. The British are still wildly racist (ethnicist?) against the Irish. In the E.U. with Britain, that British impulse would lack any direct common cause with any majority (although anti-Catholicism and reactive secularism certainly are a dangerous common cause.)

Even putting that aside, Ireland simply can’t form an equal partnership with the U.K. simply because it is so tiny. Witness Scotland, which voted 2-to-1 to remain in Europe, and which elected a unanimous slate of Scotland National Party., despite the fact that the Scotland National Party is leftist, and Scotland had previously voted quite conservatively.

How did that happen? Scotland voters felt that members of the Conservative Party would simply represent conservatives, but SNP members would be spoilers to any majority action. In other words, they settled for doing the WRONG thing most of the time so that they could do the SCOT thing when it mattered.

So now look at Scotland: they’d rather be in the EU among 20-something other nations than 1-on-1 with a single, much larger country. And you’re asking would Ireland want to join what Scotland is so desperate to flee its running into the arms of anyone — the SNP, the EU bureaucrats, even Islamofascist Syrian infiltrators — to avoid the bearhug of the U.K.

More than likely within 30 years, I believe the 6 Northern counties will be absorbed by the south to finally make a united Ireland. A lot has to happen before that event can take place — British naval bases in the north need to be relocated ...

Reuniting the fractured country IMHO would start with outlawing societies like the Orangemen — they are worse than the KKK — their “marches” only inspire & provoke the IRA to a mindset of retaliation. I would heavily watch the IRA as well. It’s a tangled knot.

Oh yeah. I’d change that flipping flag. Get rid of that orange stripe. The flag of a united Ireland should be one color: Green- with a harp in the center. (Like the flag of the Irish Navy). Ireland is the place of Celtic magic. Orange needs to go.
