Tens of thousands of people descended upon New York City on Friday for the annual Gay Pride Rally and Drag March, and probably no gay pride celebration before has been such a bittersweet mixture of celebration and devastation.
While the iconic Stonewall Inn was just named a national monument by President Obama, the gay community is still in mourning the loss of 49 innocent lives in the Orlando massacre at gay club Pulse.
'We have an obligation to our nation in the wake of Orlando to show what pride and inclusion looks like,' Mayor Bill de Blasio said, adding that the New York Police Department upped security at several locations out of caution, according to The Daily Beast.

Maybe off topic, but here we see de Blasio and others mourning Orlando as a hate crime against the gay community.
Liberals , such as the Democrats in Congress who do a sit in, made Orlando a renewed cry for gun control.
Lost in all of this, is the fact that Orlando was the deadliest terrorist attack in America since 9/11.
The liberals and media have discussed Orlando endlessly as part of the gun control debate, and secondarily as a hate crime against gays. But they have virtually ignored the fact that it was a terrorist attack.
Just wondering why this is. We all mourn for the victims of Orlando. But too many just ignore the motives of the perpetrator, because of his use of guns, and because of who he targeted.
What? only gays can mourn gays? What? gays only mourn gays and not normal people?
Post #4 ~ But too many just ignore the motives of the perpetrator, because of his use of guns, and because of who he targeted.
They were not only ‘gay’ victims, but they also were AMERICANS killed by a moslem jihadi!
Like it or not, we are at war...
I note that all Daily Mail comments so far have been deleted.
What are the odds that the under aged boys being prostituted for booze and drugs kept cropping up in reference to Stonewall?
Obligation based on what?
Proud to be a genetic dead-end, wow, we live in bizarro world
Mourning them until the next piece of fresh meat walks by.
With all the follow-up noise and crying out over guns, I’m starting to think that Orlando was no ‘accident’.
What a world— islamic terror interwoven with celebrations of sexual perversions. I fear a big Divine Smackdown is a coming to the globe.
“What? Gays only mourn gays and not normal people?”
Well, the gays didn’t exactly come out as a vocal, unified block to mourn or denounce the shooting in Charleston. Black Christians? Too conflicting.
Wonder if there was a twink contingent, and did it feature Muslim boys?
