An Italian senator presented a “pizza makers’ bill” Tuesday, which aims to create a professional registry of all Italian pizza chefs.

If successful, the bill will establish a nationally regulated pizza-making qualification, which will be recognized in all European countries.

The proposals would force aspiring pizzaioli to complete a 120-hour course made up of 20 hours of food science, 20 hours of pizza-making workshops, 30 hours of food hygiene and 40 hours of foreign languages. […]

According to the Forza Italia senator who presented the bill, Bartolomeo Amidei, the registry will protect the country’s culinary traditions and stop consumers from being sold substandard pizza. …

Delios in sierra vista az makes and interesting pie called the az sunrise. it is a whitesauce pizza with chicken that then cut into slices and then turn them around so the crust is central and center becomes tips of the sun, then they put a bowl of ranch in the center for dippin.

I know it sounds wierd but its pretty good

Just one word of advice: Read every word as he changes things as he learned, so what he says in one place he corrects in another.

” which will be recognized in all European countries.”

Of all the reasons for Brexit, this may be the critical one.

“HOWEVER, if you want a great pie...”

There’s where you have missed my point. I specifically said “decent pie”, not “great pie”. A decent pizza is more than good enough for the majority of consumers, as evidenced by the spectacular success of stuff like Pizza Hut and frozen pizzas. Those are not “great pies”, but they’re good enough for most people to enjoy, and any idiot can make a pizza that good or better.

“You write that as if you’ve never had a fantastic pizza before.”

Of course I have, I’m from Chicago for pete’s sake. I’m not talking about “fantastic pizza”, I specifically said “decent pie”. Decent pizzas, (not fantastic pizzas) are very easy to make and they are good enough for most consumers to enjoy.

If you are a pizza snob who only partakes in the gourmet stuff, by all means, go to town and enjoy yourself, but for the vast majority of people, even a mediocre pizza is enjoyable.

“any idiot can make a pizza that good or better”

Yes, they can, just like any dish can be made if the standards are low enough.

Now that’s interesting. Very strange but isn’t that what makes America great? I wonder if I google it if I can get a pix?

Do you think those businesses are propped up by government grants or something?

The fact that they make less than stellar pizzas and are still able to make millions and millions of dollars in profit (and the marketplace even bears multiple chains of the same level of quality on top of that), just proves my point.

All I can find is bad Yelp reviews (not that I believe them) which doesn’t even mention pizza. I’m fascinated by this pizza you mentioned.

Sometimes being stuck in the northeast gets boring...

Totally disagree. The more simple the recipe the more difficult it is to produce.

Italy does not need a Pizza Police.
Just post reviews on some blog and the problem will correct itself.
