Good piece. Does indeed feel a bit exciting cutting edge!

Have this on my ‘60s tape.

There are lyrics to this tune. Here is Bobby Rydell’s version:

Supposely the son of the guitarist in this group is Muse..<

. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8WP7aOD_9Q If so he's quite an artist.
Somewhat on the QUEER Style wouldn't you say?

Problems with copy and paste. Muse...son of one of the members of the Tornados I believe.

I thought The Ventures owned this song. Didn’t know there were other covers.

Great song. The producer ended up shooting someone and himself. There’s an interesting movie about it.

Tornados recorded the original. Ventures later released their version on “Ventures Play The Lonely Bull And Telstar” LP.

As a young teen “space and rocket nut”, I just had to make 45 rpm single “Telstar” my very first record purchase.

Cuz it was so techie and spacey.

When I listened to “Apache” at night I imagined an Indian riding horseback by moonlight, firing arrows at anything that moved.

Then I taped it from the radio & played it back with the capstan disengaged at about 1,000 rpm in twelve seconds or so. Called it “Apache on horseback outruns F-4 Phantom”.

Kids do silly stuff.

LOL! Yup. Silly stuff like inspiring me to try to play guitar. Still tryin’ 56 years later. I’m up to 2 and a half chords now.

Joe Meek, brilliant but queer:

Also, due to a claim of plagiarism, later resolved in his favor, Meek never received royalties from “Telstar” during his life.

At the time in 1963 I already knew knockoffs were never as good as the originals while listening to the Ventures LP.

“Lonely Bull” was played by Herb Alpert, and that was that.

Geez, is that more than five decades ago?

;^)

IIRC it was the first US Number One charting song from a British act. It wouldn’t be the last.
