Zika Is Spreading Fast In Puerto Rico, Could Reach 25% Of Population

About 1.1% of blood donors in Puerto Rico are testing positive for the Zika virus. The blood screening suggests that about 25% of the island’s population will catch Zika this year.

The Zika virus is spreading “rapidly” in Puerto Rico and now likely afflicts 2% of the island’s population with active infections, public health officials reported on Friday, based on tests of blood donors.

At current infection rates, one-quarter of the island’s 3.5 million people will eventually acquire the mosquito-borne illness, U.S. CDC officials said. Current estimates are that 1% to 13% of babies born to women infected with Zika during pregnancy will suffer from microcephaly, a severe shrunken brain and skull syndrome.

Glad to hear that you are healthy !
Stay Frosty !
The twenty five percent infection is a result of the most recent spike in Zika virus
statistically evaluated by the CDC, with the infection rate carried out to the end of this year (2016).
This number is not the current infection rate, but rather the projection rate at the end of this year.

Zika seems like a trial run for what I believe the Globalists will attempt.

They want a severe population decrease, especially now that Robotics and AI are almost within grasp.

They have seen that reducing population by killing the living works out poorly — for them.

I believe they will engineer a conception problem. People will have a great deal of trouble creating children.

it’s been found to be persistent in male semen. There are several suspected cases of zika being sexually transmitted as well as mosquito transmitted

More evidence for my thesis, expressed above.

Yeah, maybe.

Remember, too, many of the GMO tests are showing rats to be infertile and long term sterility.

but if population control is the objective, why import Middle East Asians by the millions, who bring with them a culture of numerous wives? The West is already at zero to negative growth, (so we’ve been told) so why not leave the West to die out into oblivion, and concentrate on other populations ? And, to get really freaky deeky, what’s the possibility that Westerners are genetically too herd-immune, so the DNA lines/phenotypes have to be weakened by encouraged (rewarded?) cross-marriages with imported populations? Or...vice versa? Maybe the issue of said couplings might be more succeptible to a possible population control disease epidemic? (of course, it was 120 here today so the above may be the ramblings of someone who was in the sun too long)

I cry inside when I see America abused like this by the trash from the third world. We are the doormat for people from these POS nations. Of course she and her zika baby will not be paying a dime and will be sucking off our welfare systems.
Who knows. Maybe her baby will turn out OK.

Honduran Woman flies to US to give birth to Zika baby

* Baby born with Zika-linked microcephaly in New Jersey doctors confirmed
* Mother, 31, contracted virus while in Honduras and traveled to New Jersey to visit family and seek treatment 33 days ago
* She was admitted to Hackensack University Medical Center where she gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday who has intestinal and visual complications
* The mother said her initial symptoms, a rash and fever, were ‘underestimated’ by medical doctors in Honduras
* She thinks she may have contracted Zika from a mosquito bite
* It’s estimated to cost at least $1million to treat a baby with Zika
* According to CDC, 346 travel-related cases have been reported in 41 states

Puerto Rico as we know is not a state, but it is a territory and residents have full rights of citizenship, voting and are generally governed by the U.S. That said, we have a large number of sick citizens, and an alarming acceleration rate. If reported in a U.S. state, these numbers would be catastrophic.

In the AP story that just came out an hour ago there was this tidbit of information:

(ap story) Puerto Rico has a total of 8,776 Zika cases, with 1,480 new cases reported this past week. There are now 901 pregnant women with Zika, which has been linked to severe birth defects.

This the first we've heard of such large numbers as far as I recall. Between 1 and 13% of children born with microcephaly? This is a civilization changing epidemic being treated like a political nuisance.

I agree that " This is a civilization changing epidemic being treated like a political nuisance ".
And yet , there are other FReepers here who would state that it is a contrived crisis causing undeserved medical concern,
not realizing that the mosquito has been found in 40 mainland States, and represents a real threat.
Also, there are the financial concerns: all healthcare is paid through taxation,
microcephaly, while still statistically small, will require life-long Social Security Disability, special eduction, and life-long caregivers, depnding upon severity.
Given the fact that we recently learned about Zika virus continues to reside in male gonads for 4-6 months, there is still much to learn.
The initial political concern had to do with unspent Ebola funds that were sheltered by the CDC, while they asked for additional funds for Zika study and containment.
Most people have not yet understood the true financial, social, and political impact that Zika babies will have on society,
as there are physiological, developmental, and neurological issues not yet known, depending upon when ,during pregnancy, the virus was contracted.

Very little chance the two varieties of mosquito carrying Zika will establish permanent populations in more northerly areas. I noticed that one single mosquito of this type was catalogued in Portland, Or, several years ago, but none since.

steve86 :" Very little chance the two varieties of mosquito carrying Zika will establish permanent populations in more northerly areas."

I disagree !
Last month there was confirmed 3 year observation of the Zika carrying mosquito Aedes aegypti breeding in a bird bath three blocks from the White House.
Furthermore , Aedes aegypti have been found and observed breeding in Connecticut . Culex quinquefasciatus

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/zika-virus-found-in-second-mosquito-species-is-very-bad-news-for-brazil/article31070755/

The GLobe and Mail found on July21/16 :
"Zika was found in Culex quinquefasciatus in the northeastern city of Recife, ground zero for the outbreak of fetal brain defects caused by the virus – and this species is 20 times more common there than Aedes aegypti, which until now has been identified as the main vector.

“It’s very bad news for Brazil,” said Constancia Ayres, the entomologist who conducted the research and who has been a lonely voice
insisting that it was risky to focus exclusively on Aedes aegypti as Brazil scrambled to respond to the Zika outbreak over the last year."

“We ( Brazil) have a national program for controlling Aedes – but we have nothing for Culex – so if Culex is an important vector then we have to start from zero.”

regarding two mosquito species transmitting Zika Virus :
Aedes aegypti - previously known carrier
Culex quinquefasciatus - recently learned virus carrier (20 times more coomon than Aedes aegypti in Brazil

Well, I certainly don’t consider D.C. to be particularly northerly; it is practically deep south compared to me here at 46.5° north latitude. Connecticut is more northerly than I would have expected for a breeding population. We’ll have to see how this shakes out.
