The braggart with the ducktail who would be president
Chicago Trib ^ | June 15, 2016 | Garrison Keillor

Posted on 06/16/2016 4:52:22 AM PDT by upchuck

It is the most famous ducktail in America today, the hairdo of wayward youth of a bygone era, and it's astonishing to imagine it under the spotlight in Cleveland, being cheered by Republican dignitaries. The class hood, the bully and braggart, the guy revving his pink Chevy to make the pipes rumble, presiding over the student council. This is the C-minus guy who sat behind you in history and poked you with his pencil and smirked when you asked him to stop. That smirk is now on every front page in America. It is not what anybody — left, right or center — looks for in a president. There's no philosophy here, just an attitude.

He is a little old for a ducktail. By the age of 70, most ducks have moved on, but not Donald Trump. He is apparently still fond of the sidewalls and the duck's ass in back and he is proud as can be of his great feat, the first punk candidate to get this close to the White House. He says the country is run by a bunch of clowns and that he is going to make things great again and beat up on the outsiders who are coming into our neighborhood. His followers don't necessarily believe that — what they love about him is what kids loved about Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious, the fact that he horrifies the powers that be and when you are pro-duck you are giving the finger to Congress, the press, clergy, lawyers, teachers, cake-eaters, big muckety-mucks, VIPs, all those people who think they're better than you — you have the power to scare the pants off them, and that's what this candidate does better than anybody else.

If Keillor wants to complain about someone, why doesn’t he start in on Obama. Trump,at this time is unelected. Obama is causing the problems.

I thought liberals didn’t name call - aren’t they the ones always sporting the “I hate mean people” bumper stickers?

The fact is, not only is Liberal in the dictionary under mental illness, it’s also under “hypocrite”

Garrison Keillor from Prairie Home Companion or some such radio show. It was really popular in the 80’s.

Instead of debating Mr. Trump’s PLATFORM, GK Ad Hominem attacks him because that is all he has.

The DNC’s Department of Barely Useful Idiots tagged Richard “Dick” Dreyfuss to go on about DJT’s penis and now it seems Keillor got job of The Donald’s hairdo.

Here is the One Who Became Unlistenable, himself in a white sports coat (minus the pink carnation), imitating the Powdermilk Biscuit boy, or an actual genius of letters, Tom Wolfe.

Trump is far, far from a “real estate agent.” That’s like confusing a typist with the CEO she works for. He is a real estate developer and CEO.

Just sayin’.

Yes, it’s disappointing that he doesn’t have more insight on this.

Everybody should read “Book of the Dun Cow”. Keillor and most “polite” Americans who look at Trump exclusively Keillor’s way are the ducks who go out to welcome the basilisks, not realizing that the basilisks were agents of Wurm who had no purpose but to swarm the land, annihilating everybody in their path. Chauntecleer fights the basilisks but all the ducks can see is that he’s “mean”.

Hillary, Obama, and the ruling class are the Eddie Haskells who smile and say “Thank you, Mrs. Cleaver” while they deliberately open up your chicken coop so all the animals can come in and wreak carnage while those same so-couth leaders shed crocodile tears. Who will America choose: the bully who calls a spade a spade and roots for Americans, or the Eddie Haskells who for the sake of “niceness” will sell everybody but the Muslim basilisks down the river with a smile except for the crocodile tears when the basilisks’ work is openly seen?

Keillor doesn’t get it.

Who’s Garrison Keillor? A very bitter person
Donald Trump was not a C minus person. BTW Garrison what are the grades of obama or Hillary or Bill Clinton?

Ken Burns (another Trump hater) has a similar bowl cut.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Keillor has zero room to make fun of another man’s hairstyle, looks and old-fashioned, outdated ways (just listen to his radio show), but self-awareness and honest personal insight are not traits of the delusional lefties.

I knew Keillor before he became a celebrity. He was always dorky looking. When he was young and drank and doped a lot, he was tolerable and amusing. The more success he had, the bigger jerk he became, and that got even worse when he quit doing drugs.

I had listened to this man on the radio for a while. It seemed to me that I was a lone person in thinking that his humour is really a put down of ordinary folks. In particular his jokes about the Lutherans, though one could see this as a bit of harmless ribbing. Never felt comfortable with this "humorist".

I noted you had not posted for about seven weeks Butterdezillion. I was going to freemail you, but now I see you are up and running so to speak. Nice to get your take.

Keillor always thought of his work as a devastating lampoon of middle-class life, and has always been self-loathing because people mistook it for some kind of nostalgia. He’s always been mentally troubled. Lucky he didn’t go postal or jihadi years ago.

It may be a lampoon, but he does seem to have affection for his characters and for Minnesota. He also seems to love America (just not conservatives). I don’t recall him writing or talking about how stupid he thinks Americans are or how evil he thinks America is (unlike Michael Moore).
