Ghostbusters director Paul Feig has fired back at “misogynistic” critics of his upcoming all-female-led remake, telling a film industry panel over the weekend that he has faced an “onslaught” of hate mail and negative messages since the project was announced two years ago.

The trailer sux, period. I don’t care about the original or about the male vs. female casts etc. I watched the trailer and the movie looks like crap. I suppose it may be possible to create an awful trailer for a good film but that would be really incompetent. Since trailers usually show the “highlights” of a movie, it’s a lot more likely that the movie is even worse than the trailer suggests.

They know they’ve got a dud on their hands, so they’re trying to drum up a political controversy in the hopes that dutiful leftists will line up to see it.
Yeah, Mr. Feig. 4-Chan, the gamer community, YouTube, etc., are so dominated by the right wing.
Here’s a tip:
If you want to flip the characters of the original Ghostbusters from men to women, fine. Actually, if I had seen the trailer with the sound off, I’d probably think that the four women you picked looked like they would be very funny.
But if you’re going to declare this a chick-flip of the original, here’s some pointers:
Don’t lead with a joke about the bookish scientist woman getting ectoplasmic slime in her vagina. I don’t recall Bill Murray talking about his scrotum.
Don’t make the Ernie Hudson parallel act like she’s on In Living Color. Once you announce so obviously how PC you’re going to be, you really can’t go there without seeming racist.
“Yay! Girls Night Out Woo-hoo! We’re going to have a sexy firefighter because the men had a sexy... Sigourney Weaver?” Not Pamela Anderson (or Loni Anderson)... Sigourney Weaver. The joke was that Bill Murray was reaching way out of his SOCIAL CLASS, and that her possession was what made her so sensual. C’mon... Annie Potts was cuter than Sigourney Weaver.
If you’re going to write black girl humor as a white man, you can’t cut PC corners. You want to do an exorcism joke, you have to go to religion. “The power of PAIN compels you” doesn’t work. Girl’s gotta go to Christ. Oddly, the original ghostbusters reflected the somewhat unorthodox but sincere Christian beliefs of Dan Akroyd and the psychology department at St Bonaventure University.
The light show worked in the mid 80s coming off Poltergeist, which in turn was coming off of Close Encounters. The visual metaphor simply doesn’t work anymore.
The only good thing about the Ghostbusters remake is the return of Hi-C Ecto Cooler!
Fieg may be giving up on half the audience in a desperate move to generate interest on the left. Everyone inside the progressive echo chamber knew Hillary would be nominated this year. This movie was planned a couple of years ago as part of the year long “Year of the Woman” celebration of Hillary’s coronation. But they didn’t count on Hillary being such a flawed candidate. Now they have a crap candidate and crap movie to go along with it.
Yeah. I am getting really sick of the powerful butt kicking female Star. It’s OK to a point. But it’s mostly a crock of poo.
I am by no means the biggest guy.but if I can take a punch from a man there is no way almost ANY female can do anything but piss me off.

Well, they released a trailer with actual footage, but that bombed and has become known as the “worst trailer in the history of the internet”.
Feig tried to handwave that away by claiming that since they were still working on the special fx, they couldn’t put the best shots in the trailer. Thing is, this is supposed to be a comedy. If the only good shots are special fx shots, then it’s obviously a failure as a comedy.
I thought it was “The power of Patty,” as in Patty, the character’s name.
Women should be obscene and not heard.
I do not need one more thing in my life that is humorless and overly-politicized, especially if that thing is supposed to be light-hearted Summer entertainment.
Even if there is nothing overtly political in this movie (which I sincerely doubt), it has been ruined by all of this whining about how I HAVE to like it because they are WOMEN!!! Once they ring that bell, it is impossible to just enjoy the movie on the merits (if any there be).
Given the trailers that I have seen, there is very little to enjoy here.
