It's odd to think that, once upon a time, a TV show set in space -- one that declared, in its opening narration, as the cosmos being the "final frontier" -- was considered the pop-cultural equivalent of an unwanted party-crasher. Yes, a concept like Star Trek was both of its time and clearly ahead of it; history has more than vindicated Gene Roddenberry's notion of boldly going where no man had gone before. But given the number of top-notch shows set in the far reaches of the galaxy and that used genre for pulpy and profound purposes over the last 30 or so years, it seems crazy to think that one of the most groundbreaking SF series was a network pariah and a ratings dud. Today, there's an entire cable network devoted to this kind of programming. You can't turn on your TV/Roku/cut-cord viewing device without bumping into spaceships, alien invasion and wonky sci-fi food-for-thought.
Science fiction has been around in one form or another since the early-ish days of television, both here and abroad, and its legacy now looms larger than ever. So what better time to count down the 40 best sci-fi TV shows of all time? Quark deserved a couple of seasons.
Despite the problems, I like the Invaders too.
I like Quinn Martin shows in general.
The best episodes are Kryten learning to insult humans, or the cat needing a mate.

Sat this as a Saturday morning serial on the mid 50s.
One that did not make the list from the 80s I think was a story about a giant space craft headed for a new earthlike planet. On the craft were dozens of chambers containing cryo frozen people and their cultural tools, history, etc.
Somehow one of the chambers is damaged and two men, Amish by culture are thawed and roam the ship for a couple of seasons. Don’t recall the name of the show, but I enjoyed watching it.

if you remember part of the plot was the aliens made themselves to look like humans
And one episode sticks in my head. is there was an alien that was masquerading as is world famous black doctor...
And this othe black guy picked up that black doctor was an alien was a from a photograph because he noticed that the palms of the guy’s hands were also black ...not white like a real black person’s palms

Similar to ‘The Final Countdown’ a made for TV (FOX??) that had a Nuclear Carrier caught in a time warp and being set down in the Pacific Ocean on Dec 6 1941 where they get to ‘show off’ the Jets against the zeros and the decision to not interfere with history.
Interesting concept - especially for me who is not a Sci-Fi buff.
I remember that episode. :)
