You heard a lot of organ music back then, right along with the guitars. This was especially so with songs done at concerts. An organ solo could soak up lots of time, enough for others to take a little break.

FWIW, we opened for Steppenwolf, with John Kay, back in about 1975 at Tampa Convention Center then again at West Palm Beach Auditorium. Savoy Brown was also on the bill.

Loved it.

Great song, but I’ll eat my hat if that was a live performance.

They are playing along to the record (which is what rock bands on TV shows commonly did back in that era).

It doesn’t deviate for the record by one note.

Listen to the very tail end of the song. There are TWO guitar parts playing (the rhythm chord & a high pitched single note solo). The band only has one guitar player.

I saw SW at the Orlando Sports Stadium in 1971. Top notch live band.

Saw SB at Tampa Stadium around 72/73. Very good. Had the pleasure of seeing Kim Simmonds a couple of times in St Pete & Clearwater in smaller venues around 2003. Got my “Looking In” LP autographed.

Saw them at King’s Beach Bowl at Lake Tahoe back in the day. It was a bowling alley that did concerts, if I remember correctly.

The ultimate biker song.

Stills sounds great after all of these years.
