Former McDonald’s CEO Warns Robots Cost Less Than Paying A $15 Minimum Wage

"If you look at the robotic devices that are coming into the restaurant industry — it’s cheaper to buy a $35,000 robotic arm than it is to hire an employee who’s inefficient making $15 an hour bagging French fries,” Rensi told Fox Business. “It’s nonsense and it’s very destructive and it’s inflationary and it’s going to cause a job loss across this country like you’re not going to believe.”

What does $ 15 an hour translate to? For a single part time employee that works 20 hours a week that’s $ 15,000 a year. But, for a single work station to be manned for a year you need six employees.

So 6 times $ 15,000 equals $ 90,000 in base salary. Plus all the other federal mandates.

Which is cheaper - $ 90,000 or $ 35,000?
Which one will allow a franchise operator maintain the current price points and stay in business?

BTW - does any Freeper have access to the base pay for E-3? Is it $ 30,0000 or less?

My daughter loves Chipotle’s. She had been mentioning it for years (she’s in her 30’s, that’s her demographic I guess), so one day I suggested we stop there. I was actually curious as well.

The people behind the counter all must have had more metal in their faces and on their heads than should be allowed for safety reasons...

Now, it’s a taco bar basically... It must have taken 30 minutes to get my three tacos. Granted, the line was about 15 deep when we got there, but there is NO reason for a taco bar to take that long to give me my food.

My daughter sat at their crappy table made from pipes with me, smiling from ear to ear “this is great huh dad?”

Of course I agreed out of politeness (always glad to be out with kids), but I had lost my appetite because I was so PO’d for standing in line and watching face pierced tattooed fools touch my food.

From an outside observer, I would have thought this place would be out of business, but... they seem to do well, I don’t understand it.
