“Is there no one left in Hollyweird with an original thought?”

Sure there are, but the studios no longer want to risk their money on original ideas. They know that with a known brand, even if the movie sucks, they can make money selling it in foreign markets where people just care about explosions, sex appeal, and special effects. They’d rather do that and make money with crap movies than take a risk and actually make good movies.

Or Ringo’s “Troy” novels. Or, for real fun, Larry Correia’s “Monster Hunter International” books. . .

Canticle for Leibowitz is my favorite of all of them, but imho impossible to film.
Heck, it’s hard to explain it to anyone under 50.

The simple debate answer is people often hire for irrational reasons, and then you’re in the weeds with rational market theory.

This thing was doomed to flop from the start... its a needless movie... hey, lets reboot ghostbusters... oh wait, why? Why does anyone care? its a movie literally everyone has seen... its not a movie that was popular but fell from grace, its still on cable daily... So how and why would anyone come to see a reboot?

Oh I know, we’ll make it women, that’ll be the hook.

Its pandering, its pathetic and its a flop... Not because the actresses in it are bad, I am sure they will do the best they can with this, but reality is, its doomed.... It was probably the stupidest green lit film in a long time. I hope the actresses got paid big $$$ to be part of this garbage, because its the only payday they’ll see from it.

When Sony Pictures’ second trailer for its female-fronted Ghostbusters reboot appeared online May 18, fans initially had to find it on Facebook. The studio had switched from YouTube, which hosted the first trailer, in a deliberate effort to combat a cacophony of negative reaction emanating from a very vocal minority online.

...

So when you want to curtail speech you go to Facebook.

“Is there no one left in Hollyweird with an original thought?”

Indeed.

A made-for-TV movie could be easily found here on FR:

“Freeper needs legal advice - daughter planning to marry muslim she met on the internet”
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1298992/posts?q=1&;page=1

A lot of behind the scenes activities: terrorist connections, MI-5 working with a FReeper (not the OP), local London clueless private detective, UK immigration, Scotland Yard Special Branch and a few other players. . .but nooooo. . .let’s remake Ghostbusters instead.

It is said that there are only so many plot forms. Remakes avoid risk more than originality. I have several stories which would make excellent screen plays, but because they have a Christian perspective hollyweird is not interested. Can’t even find an agent who would risk representation!

It’s been done! We’ve seen it before, we’ve seen these gags a million times! Hollywood is remaking 27 films. No one wants to read a book.

How about a movie that exposes the pedophiles in hollywood? they seem to like this subject enough to give it an academy award.

Careful what you suggest. The degenerates will make the movie and have the pedo be the heroic figure and a Pastor the badguy. Oh wait!

Agree. . .but this one has unique aspects that make it scary and tense, while at the same time, proud of our country and, mostly, the Brits.

With the names changed, I present this story, too include behind the scene activities, in my class. . .always leaves them slack-jawed and scared.

Spoke once with a guy that had connections in Hollyweird and he said it would never be produced because, while the story is fascinating and entertaining, the bad guy is a muslim and we can’t have that.

Apology to everyone as I forgot to include the date of the thread I referenced. The thread is over 10-ys old and had a happy ending.

Suggest we leave 6ppc alone. . .

I had an idea for a movie with a female cast.

I titled it ——Bra Busters.

I would NEVER trust Hollywood with stranger in a strange land. They would just turn it into a PC left wing fiasco.
