The giant ball that could save your life in a catastrophe: The Survival Capsule...

It may look like a giant snooker ball, but this spherical capsule could save your life.

When a natural disaster strikes, whether it is a tsunami or earthquake, there are very few places to find shelter.

But now, The Survival Capsule - a personal safety system in the form of a giant ball - has been designed to combat this issue.

This capsule, which features two small porthole windows so the occupants can see what is going on around them, was created to give individual groups and families more control of their survival in emergency situation than traditional 'safe houses.'

Julian Sharpe, founder of The Survival Capsule, said: 'It gives [people] an option of having a security system on their own property which is easily accessible day or night and really gives the family a safe security they wouldn't otherwise have.'

Regarding survival in the event a natural disaster or social upheaval I question the wisdom of resorting to survival balls or long-term bunkering as a reliable solution. With respect to either option, what happens if a “something” blocks and/or prevents egress? The way elites are viewed these days I can envision a deliberate act whereby the big blast-proof door or any other point of entry/egress of a underground bunker being welded shut from the outside.

In a tornado, it becomes an orange ping pong ball.

Actually, tornadoes slide over spheres and move away. As long as this thing is firmly anchored, it would be a great above-ground tornado shelter.

I agree, with debris and being a real issue it might end up being your own personal tomb. Also if air tight, you might well suffocate. Way too claustrophobic.

I think a slit trench is much safer, unless it is a flood/tornado, in which case a slit trench on high ground.

Same principal as island tipping. Everyone gets on one side and it'll roll over.

Fine, fine.

But does it protect against microaggression and triggering?

I am envisioning an earthquake, a giant chasm opening up, and watching in horror through the porthole as I am swallowed up into the bowels of the earth.

Or there’s being sucked out to sea by the tsunami, and bobbing around in the ocean waiting to die.

LOL! Right? And even worse is if you rolled downhill into that chasm that you could have easily avoided on foot!

It's not round, but being inside makes one better able to be more survivable (or make sure others trying to get inside are less survivable).

Maybe the tinnitus caused by the shots reverbing in the ball will make it so your central ear is such a mess that you don’t puke when the bad guys wait for you to run out of ammo and start rolling you around.
