BARROW, Alaska — Most Alaskans and Canadians have a bear story — tales of fearsome grizzlies, even polar bears. But a mix of the two?

They’re known as pizzlies or grolars, and they’re a fusion of the Arctic white bear and their brown cousins. It’s a blend that’s been turning up more and more in parts of Alaska and Western Canada.

Last week, a strange-looking bear was shot by a hunter in Nunavut, a remote territory that curves around Canada’s Hudson Bay. Its head was large, like a grizzly’s, but its fur was white. The bear’s genetics were not tested, but Arctic researchers seem unified in their analysis: It’s a polar-grizzly mix. A hybrid.

Interspecies sex is a direct result of what happens when the habitats of the polar bears and grizzlies can no longer sustain their numbers. Thus, interspecies sex is natures way of coping with the problem. Darwin wrote about that. I think. Or maybe not. But, for certain, the warmists will attribute this abomination of interspecies sex to global warming.

That’s the question I keep asking but so far have not received an answer I can grasp on to. I was always told that two distinct species may produce a hybrid offspring like a mule but there is no third generation so genes from hybrids are not passed on.

No albino bears?

I believe that albinism can happen in any species including bears but other than the white fur, these bears don't have the other traits of albinism.

Bears can have unusual colors. The Kermode bear of British Columbia is a white version of the common black bear but again not an albino. The glacier bear of Northern BC, Yukon, and Alaska is a silver-gray colored common black bear. Both are quite rare and spread over thousands of square miles of territory, so they are seldom encountered.
