Austria's Far-Right presidential candidate LOSES his bid to become EU's first anti-immigrant leader

Austria's Far-Right presidential candidate Norbert Hofer has conceded defeat in his election bid to become the EU's first anti-immigrant leader.

The EU had been on tenterhooks this morning as Austria waited to see whether Hofer had won an election run-off against Independent candidate Alexander Van der Bellen.

Projected results last night had put both Hofer, presented as the friendly and moderate face of the populist Freedom Party (FPOe), and Van der Bellen, former head of the Greens, neck-and-neck on 50 percent.

But after the final 900,000 postal votes were counted, Van der Bellen this afternoon emerged as the winner. Only a little more than 31,000 votes separated the two, out of more than 4.6 million ballots cast. Hofer wrote on his Facebook page: 'Of course I am sad today. I would have liked to take care of our wonderful country for you as president.'

Postal votes sound very similar to super delegates - it’s odd how both always seem to favor the establishment.

For such a close election, Hofer threw in the towel with barely a whimper.

I could have predicted this. It's just more political theater. Give the proles something that makes them think they actually have a say in matters, but keep the left-wing infrastructure in place.

This is not going to change without a revolution. And I don't mean a metaphoric one.

>Even more fascinating is Van der Bellen’s family history of being a refugee from Stalinism.

Odd that a refugee from that would want to reinstate it.
>

Odd? IMO, no. Unless the family instilled the threat into their children, it doesn’t take much for the lesson to be lost (aka govt indoctrination aka schools). Unless they LIVED it, or were greatly shielded by the family, it’s in-one-ear...

Or, like the Nazis in S. America, fleeing their loss. There was no ‘lesson to learn’.

Or, maybe, just simple, plain stupidity. Can’t ever rule that out /s

Probably. Van der Bellen’s Green Party slogan was

“Whoever loves Austria is scheisse !

Sucks, but at least president of Austria is mostly a ceremonial figurehead without executive power. The propaganda value of this outcome is, of course, a whole different matter.

Hillary Clinton may steal the election, but it will take a level of voter fraud that would embarrass Richard Daley. There are the macro elements (Soros and his control over the programming of voting machines) and micro elements (traditional ballot box stuffing by urban Democrat machines). I think Trump recognizes this and has the courage to confront it, but he may not have the resources, even with his great wealth. He will need lots of attorneys, ballot box watchers, and, to be blunt, thugs to intimidate the Black Panthers and gangbangers in the big urban areas. Hillary and her minions may throw $2 billion into this election, and relatively little in conventional advertising. (Ask Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz how effective their media attacks on Trump were.) $2 billion can buy lots of effort from programmers, political hacks, SJWs, and gangsters.

Paraphrasing Mencken, obviously Austrian voters need a little more stimulus before waking up, good and hard.

By then it’ll be too late. By next election they’ll be so crammed with freshly christened 3rd world citizens, it simply won’t matter.

The same will happen here if Trump loses. And I’m not convinced we’re not already over an electoral demographic point of no return.

The next FPÖ leader won’t be as moderate, I expect. And he will do better.

Absentee ballots are supposed to mirror the election’s results.

Stolen election. Massive vote fraud. The left wing press will not report it.
