This was mine. Drag Race at Paradise Road
“Rock ‘n roll’s been going downhill ever since Buddy Holly died.”
How about the police car prank Richard Dreyfuss participated in?
The TV show “Happy Days” predates the movie “American Graffiti.”
Love that song. “Green Onions” by Booker T. and the MG’s. The next track on the album is called “Mo Onions”. Excellent film.
Where were YOU IN 62? I was starting HS.
At the drugstore. I got a comb, mints, pint of old Harper.
Several got a start in the movie...Harrison Ford
Richard Dreyfuss
of course Ron Howard had been around
Suzanne Somers in the T-bird.
Boy its been a long time. I hope I got the names right...ha ha
Wolfman Jack was actually on the radio on a huge station that boomed out of Mexico and at night could be picked up most anywhere.
“He looks like a little dog. He looks like old Ginger”
The old couple watching Terry on his knees puking after having too much booze.
All of it!
American Graffiti was a low budget surprise hit that had a lot of stars who hadn’t become stars yet.
The success gave Lucas the leverage get a movie studio to finance Star Wars.
Dreyfus in the radio station with Wolfman Jack - or was it......
Same here, the drag race scene. The Chevy in the movie is the same car in Two Lane Blacktop according to George Lucas.
The scenes in the piss-yellow hot rod between the young girl and the cool dude.
Even though he disparaged them, I most enjoyed the Beach Boys in the soundtrack, both there and the end.
I think it was the first time that The Beach Boys were given the place of honor: either punctuating the ending of the film or beginning the rolling of the credits (in this instance with All Summer Long).
Later instances:
Never Been Kissed (Don’t Worry Baby)
Almost Famous (Feel Flows)
Love, Actually (God Only Knows
Vanilla Sky (Good Vibrations)
Yeah, rabid BB fan - especially their seldom-played middle period [Pet Sounds through Holland, from which period Cameron Crowe took Feel Flows, from Surf’s Up]. I was the weird one that never got into The Beatles.
Definitely the chaining of the cops axle LOL. I was 16 when that movie came out. Next would be Toad trying to buy booze. Wolfman Jack really made the movie though.
