$2000 for a new 1970 VW sedan. The high-pitched, whistling noise from the muffler as it wound up the gears was no extra charge, but I had to buy a nylon mesh ‘scrunchee’ to clean ice from the inside windshield.
Only repair was to replace the sodium chloride battery 9 years later when I sold it for $1500.

And my bulldog likes a little shredded sharp cheddar on his Alpo.

Do you mean club 33? It’s perched in New Orleans square, overlooking pirates of the caribbean. Damn near impossible to get into. The only place in the original magic kingdom wher you can get a stiff drink. Me, I’d rather spend the night in Walts apartment, above the fire hall.

“America has built up a glut of cheese so big that every person in the country would need to eat an extra 3 pounds this year to work it off.”

I’ll gladly pitch in and do my part for my country. I know it’s hard work, put somebody has to do it.

Nothing like a cool bottle of wine, fresh bread and a large chunk of cheese.

Inflation Calculator If in 1964 I bought an item for $ 2765 then in 2016 that same item would cost: $21,001.80 Cumulative rate of inflation change: 659.6%

Of course you have to compare salaries at the time and what the car was equipped with. I bought my first new car in 1980, a Toyota Corolla with just an FM radio for 5000. I was making 180 dollars a week. I bought a Honda Fit in 2009 with everything in it for a little over 15000. Happily, I make more than 3 times my 1980 salary now.

Yes, 33... I seem to be dyslexic.

Nope, while I’d love to see inside Walt’s apt, I’d still like to eat in the Club. And stay in the apt next door.

... buy one for $2,368 NOT on sale.

I think my father paid about that for his '66 at the time.

I paid $1,200 for one off a used car lot in Atlanta in '76 and my Dad felt I was getting ripped! Times do change.
