The Jefferson Parish coroner's office has identified the woman killed while fleeing a collision in Metairie Monday morning as Madison Comeaux, 24, of Metairie. Coroner Dr. Gerry Cvitanovich identified Comeaux's passenger as Jaclyn St. Romain, 38, of Slidell.
The women were pronounced dead after the Ford Mustang Comeaux was driving crashed into a power pole in the 3600 block of South Interstate 10 Service Road. Traffic investigators determined she had been involved in a hit-and-run moments earlier on an I-10 exit ramp and was trying to get away when the wreck occurred, according to Col. John Fortunato, spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
"She was flying," said LaToya Gordon, a pedestrian who was out for a walk on the service road when the Mustang drove past. "She was going faster than the cars on the interstate."
The two cars pulled over in a parking lot to exchange information after exiting the interstate, according to Dove, who had reached a nearby gas station. But instead of providing insurance details, the driver of the Mustang hopped back into the vehicle and sped off, Dove said. He watched as the car drove westbound on the service road.
Gordon spotted the vehicle swerving against traffic into the eastbound lane of the service road, maneuvering around other vehicles at high speeds. Afraid the Mustang would hit her on the sidewalk, Gordon dashed into the parking lot of a nearby office building as the car passed by.

Looks like it went into the utility pole roof first. Not much chance of surviving that.
People need to stop relying on computers to edit their writing. “The managed car.”
Another victim of auto-correct.
It’s going to take some work to straighten the frame on that one. Might be good to get a Carfax if you are going to buy a blue Mustang.
Reminds me of the "management" at my last company. :=)
“the car, which flipped onto its side and crashed into a power pole ....The force of the crash crushed the roof the Mustang, wrapping it around the pole. “ Sounds like that’s what happened. The front end damage may have come from rear-ending the Lincoln or hitting the Jetta.
It’ll buff right out.
She looks pretty good for someone who was just wrapped around a pole.
instant karma
If the car had been managed, this wouldn’t have happened.
If reporters still had editors, most of those who did sloppy work would have been fired a long time ago.
Some of the short ones can be mighty feisty.
Might be 1’5” in the next photo...
It was.
Lots of partying pics on her Facebook page.
Looks like she might have had a little kid too. Sad.
Apparently, this was going to be her third H&R, probably had a bench warrant issued for second one, failure to appear, etc.
Meth is a heck of a drug.
Sad. Cute gal, rough life.
She had outstanding warrants for hit and run. Two I believe. Probably why she was running. No word on if she was impaired by drugs or alcohol. Bad judgement for sure.
Heroin addict. Multiple rehabs had no effect
The passenger had 19yr old twin boys and schoolage twin boys and had just become a grandmother.
