Like any politician not named Donald Trump, Target Corporation (TGT) could have easily sidestepped a thorny issue by “Pleading the Fifth.” Instead, TGT went in guns blazing.
Two weeks ago, the big box retailer announced that its guests and team members can use restrooms or fitting rooms that correspond to their gender identity. According to the Associated Press, Target became the first major retailer to publicly stand up for so-called transgender rights.
At the same time, they drew unwanted attention at a particularly sensitive time, potentially harming the Target brand and TGT stock.
A Christian activist group called The American Family Association fired back at the retailer immediately, calling for a boycott of Target stores.
In the week following the transgender policy announcement, the AFA collected more than 744,800 pledges. In its second week, the AFA tacked on nearly 430,000 additional signatures — nearly a 60% increase. This supports AFA’s claim that the boycott proposal is one of their most popular campaigns. It also puts TGT in a defensive position that doesn’t help the company in any way.

Keep the pressure on. Spread the word to your friends. Complain to the store managers - tell them you oppose their policy and that you feel uncomfortable using their restrooms.
We may actually win this one... and make it an example for others.

Remember when KMart caved to Michael Moore? It began to turn into a ghost town as shoppers abandoned them.
Then, loser KMart joined loser Sears in hopes that two losers joining would make a winner.
Didn’t happen. Ain’t gonna happen.

Today I happily liquidated my very modest (approx. $2,000) position in Target. I bought a few shares when the stock price tanked after the identity theft crisis because I knew Target customers are loyal and that the stock price would bounce back. I will send their CEO my order confirmation with an explanatory note. We are a family of six including three teenage daughters and a teenage son and we will not be stepping foot in a Target store unless and until this offensive policy is reversed and an apology is issued.
I don’t think Target has public restrooms anymore. I see them as date rooms for perverts.
I wouldn’t walk into a Target any sooner than I would a homo bar.
