(Vanity) The Mitt Romney Doomsday Scenario

Posted on 05/07/2016 9:19:58 PM PDT by GLDNGUN

Mitt Romney running as a independent in the 2016 general Presidential election is quickly becoming a very strong possibility, folks. The scary and nearly unthinkable result is that he could end up not just denying Donald Trump the Presidency but could become President himself. Think I'm crazy? Take a closer look.

Depending on when the House would vote, sounds like a good incentive for Trump voters to vote out the GOP House as insurance against this.

The GOP clearly doesn’t represent the people, so no reason to keep them.

Yes, this is a possible scenario. However, if the GOP remains fractured, the Dems could win enough seats in the House and Senate to win the theoretical vote. It is not the present Congress, but the next one that would vote in your scenario.

If they try to pull off something like this the voters would not stand for it. People would throw such a fit it wouldn’t work out at all. Large numbers of people are extremely angry now, no patience for those that have made them angry to pull more shenanigans!

All we've heard from these f-----g idiots for the last decade or two is this "big tent" idea about the GOP: bring in more demographics, more of the People.

So now, when the GOP actually has the potential to do such a thing, and to relegate the Democrat party to minority status for decades to come, what do they do?

They freak out and try to sabotage the whole thing, because they realize that it's tantamount to losing their power. They're scared of losing their spot at the corrupt entrenched Uniparty feeding trough.

These elites are basically cowards. Rather than joining the Revolution and try to make their own positive impressions on it, they want to stick with their Establishment loyalties.

Just totally misguided.

Vote Trump!

How do you imagine he would get on the ballot? There are ballot access rules in every state that effectively thwart third party candidates from getting on the ballot.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballot_access

It is a true jungle there with millions to be spent and thousands of lawyers required to slash their way through the darkness.

I protested in 1998 at our Capitol building for less restrictive ballot access. Nothing came of it. I was an odd day standing next to the Green Party, Constitution Party, Socialist Party, etc. Strange bedfellows. I also went door-to-door to get signatures. Most people are Democrats or Republicans and will not sign a petition to allow a third party on the ballot, even if you reason with them for fairness.

If they try something like that it would show they are worse than out of touch, they are delusional.

This stupid. Romney isn’t going to run, and there isn’t going to be this third party candidate. Why should these false stories keep being floated?

We can’t control Romney. Instead of worrying about things we can’t control, let’s just work on defeating Hillary. That is in our control.

I think Trump is going to walk away with 1/3 of the Bernie vote. Most of them don’t really know what socialism is. They just want to kick out the establishment, stop the bad trade deals and keep things interesting.

Remember, the huge Seattle protests of 1999 were anti-WTO, anti-NAFTA and anti-globalism. The anti-capitalist elements were just a side show—the usual professional, Marxist agitator-parasites who show up everywhere.

In fact, since Seattle, the WTO no longer holds its conferences in countries that are not police states which can fully suppress demonstrations. That’s because they are universally hated by everyone except their OWNED uniparty politicians.

I think you give these folks way too much credit. I truly don’t think they would have a clue about the issues you are talking about.

They hear one thing...FREEEE!!

“He would have to win states like VA, NC Wisc, Fla and Ohio to deny someone 270.”

Or someone would.

If Romney won 20 % of the GOP vote he might win Utah, maybe even Idaho, but he would cost Trump any chance of winning about 40 other states.

It might resemble the 1912 election where Teddy Roosevelt split the Republican vote with Taft while Woodrow Wilson walked to an easy victory.

More like 1980 with John Anderson. TR was popular in his era, Willard never was.
